About this role

Job Title: Driveline Buyer

Overview:

As the buyer, you will work with vendors to negotiate pricing and lead times for our manufacturing operations. Purchasing materials, equipment, and supplies to meet demands while maintaining lean practices. Responsible for implementing purchase orders, presenting forecast changes, and working to resolve delivery challenges.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Research, evaluate, and choose suppliers based on price, quality, and reliability to present to the Purchasing Manager
  • Investigate, identify, and research potential cost savings of commodities by developing supplier relationships
  • Review purchase requisitions and scans daily and approve purchase orders based on negotiated price, terms, and quality
  • Communicate effectively with all departments, coordinating acceptable quality and delivery of purchased material
  • Attend daily production meeting and track build schedule for changes
  • Monitor open purchase orders
  • Discuss defective or unacceptable goods with supplier and implement corrective action
  • Send out monthly forecast to vendors
  • Create vendor performance reports and issues to manager and vendors
  • Source new parts and update suppliers of print and/or design changes
  • Resolve other purchasing related problems as they occur
  • Vendor visits, some overnight travel will be required less than 10%
  • Reports to Purchasing Manager 


To be seriously considered for this role, please have the following:

  • Two years of experience in purchasing
  • One year of experience working in manufacturing environment
  • Proficiency in Word, Excel, and Outlook 
  • Ability to read blueprints to identify and source parts
  • Dependable
  • Detail oriented                                  
  • Strong communication 
  • Must be able to multi-task and prioritize as needed 
  • Experience with negotiating favorable pricing
  • Ability to perform cost analyses

Earning Potential:

$42,000 + depending on experience 

Two potential annual bonuses

Full-time position in Dixon, IL

Monday – Friday 7:30am – 4pm
