About this role

Position Summary:

Assist with the food preparation, packaging of meals, delivery meals to congregate and homebound seniors. Assist in kitchen operations as needed. Driver must be prepared to drive in all traffic, types of roads, and weather conditions. Required to use company vehicle for meal deliveries.

 

Please note that this is a per diem position, working an estimated 24-29 hours/week.

 

Essential Functions of the Job:

  • Deliver meals to home bound seniors in a timely manner
  • Deliver meals to congregate sites in a timely manner with temperature a concern.
  • Maintains accurate record of meals, vehicle, mileage, and temperature logs.
  • Ability to interact with seniors and inform individuals with concern and patience.
  • Serves meals and cleans up serving areas and kitchen after use.
  • Assist in packaging, limited food prep, and packing of home delivered meals.
  • Is able to drive safely in all weather conditions.
  • Follow food safety guidelines to promote safe food handling.
  • Able to take direction from all staff members in assisting with the Kitchen, Nutrition Program, and other tasks assigned by Program Supervisor.
  • Maintains vehicle clean and follows up with maintenance to meet safety regulations and registration.
  • Follow process for Mandated Reporter.
  • Maintains control of client information secure in accordance with San Diego County and Federal and State regulations, SYHealth privacy policies, and as applicable by law.
  • Performs any other job-related duties as needed, assigned and/or as requested by immediate lead staff.
  • Adheres to SYHealth and MHCC Department’s policies and best practices, ensuring staff compliance to attendance and punctuality.
  • Understands and works Saturdays and extended hours if schedule changes and cooperates with all schedule changes.
  • Ability to demonstrate passion for helping people and underserved population.
  • Demonstrates the ability to meet goals, multi task and perform duties in a timely fashion.

  • Promotes and fosters respect for patient privacy by maintaining confidentiality on all patient EHR data and abides by both the HIPAA Privacy and Security rules.
  • Exhibits excellent presentation skills, confidently speaks up, follows the appropriate chain of command and demonstrates effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Takes initiative by asking others if they need assistance when they has downtime or taking the initiative to complete tasks that they are not assigned or cross training in other areas without the directive from their supervisor.
  • Maintains a clean, safe and organized work area at all times.
  • Demonstrates supportive skills in providing excellent customer service experiences.
  • Manages the process of the cash/receipt for any authorizations to release information.
  • Performs any other job-related duties as needed, assigned or requested
  • Follow SYHealth’s personal appearance policy and avoid being put in the position of being sent home by supervisor.

Job Requirements


Education Required:

High School Diploma or GED equivalent

 

Certifications/Licenses Required:

Current American Heart Association CPR Certification, and Current Driver License in the State of California or License from legal residence state. Clean driver’s record.

Preferred: Current Food Handler Card

 

Experience Required:

Preferred: 1-2 years working with seniors

 

Verbal and Written Skills Required to perform the Job:

Preferred: Bilingual (Spanish/English)

Superb organizational ability, excellent customer service, compassionate, and exceptionally analytical.

 

Technical Knowledge and Skills Required to Perform the Job:

Ability to proficiently maneuver through emails all electronic applications used for job.

 

Equipment Used:

Computers, Software systems, kitchen appliances, Scanner, Telephones, Copy and Fax machines.

 

Working Conditions and Physical Requirements:

Prolonged, extensive, and considerable standing/Sitting/Walking/Lifting. Lift up to 50 lbs

Manual dexterity and mobility.

Always reaching, stooping bending, kneeling, crouching.

Ability to handle multiple job task functions simultaneously.

Ability to work harmoniously with others as a team member.

May be required to work evenings and/or weekends, and provide staffing coverage.

 

Universal Requirements:

Pre-employment requirements include I-9, physical, positive background and reference check results, complete application, new hire orientation, pre-employment PPDs. Compliance with all mandated vaccinations and all boosters is a term and condition of employment.
