This is a multi-skilled position requiring a variety of patient care skills and abilities.
Under the direction and supervision of a licensed professional nurse (nurse) or Provider (physician or Advanced Practice Provider) the Emergency Department Technician provides care appropriate to the patient populations served. The ED Tech performs their duties based on the unit care delivery model. This role collaborates with the interdisciplinary team to deliver care as outlined by the nurse or provider. ED Technicians assist with blood and specimen collection, splint application, obtaining electrocardiograms and assisting with the use of physiologic monitoring devices. They also assist by assisting in clerical functions, transporting patients, running errands, transporting equipment and materials (body fluids) as needed.
