About this role
Role overview:
We need a true senior full-stack engineer who will own end-to-end delivery of real-time video + AI features on our sports content platform. This is a high-ownership, low-ego role in a small, high-trust team.
Core day-to-day stack:
- Backend: Java 21, Spring Boot 3, Kafka, Postgres (Aurora), Gradle, Docker, Terraform
- Frontend: SolidJS/React with TypeScript, TanStack Table, TailwindCSS, Zod, hls.js
- Infra: AWS (ECS Fargate, MSK, CloudFront, MediaPackage, Lambda)
- AI: Heavy daily use of Cursor / Claude / Grok / Continue.dev + production LLM integration
- Proven production experience shipping with Java Spring Boot + SolidJS (or very strong React + signals and willingness to switch Day 1)
- Already using AI tools daily as a genuine co-pilot (we will ask for your exact setup)
- Has integrated LLMs in production (OpenAI, Anthropic, Grok, Gemini – prompting, RAG, function calling)
- Writes clean, tested, documented code (≥80% coverage, OWASP-aware, meaningful commits)
- Comfortable working in a fast-moving, iterative, agile environment where delivery, clarity, and ownership matter
Strongly preferred (fast-track)
- DASH, RTMP/SRT ingest, WebRTC, LL-HLS, MediaLive/MediaPackage experience
- ShedLock, Liquibase, Ably, solid-apexcharts, m3u8-parser, jbcrypt, Lombok
- Sports / live-event / real-time media background
- Built and shipped HLS-based video streaming at scale (manifests, adaptive bitrate, signed URLs, CloudFront)
- Moves ahead of trends, hates manual work that AI can solve
- Never says “that’s not my job”
- UK or EU timezone, excellent communication
- Eager to learn and is aware of professional and technical blind spots.
