Position Summary:

The Digital Sales Specialist is responsible for generating new business sales and driving profitability (P&L) within the assigned territory of Central and Western Canada, with a focus on basic to intermediate microscopy solutions. Operating primarily through a remote sales platform, the Digital Sales Specialist will leverage tools to engage with customers, deliver virtual product demonstrations, and build strong relationships across the territory. This role requires a commitment to achieving annual sales targets by developing a comprehensive sales plan, setting specific objectives, and providing monthly forecasts for orders and expected revenue. The Digital Sales Specialist must cultivate deep product knowledge of ZEISS’s basic to intermediate microscopy solutions and maintain awareness of market conditions to identify opportunities for growth. This position is ideal for a self-motivated individual with strong remote sales skills, a passion for scientific solutions, and the ability to utilize digital platforms to drive customer engagement and success.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Managing the entire sales process using incoming leads/product inquiries for opportunity development, closing sales, and providing post-sale support.
  • Achieve or exceed sales targets and KPIs through effective remote selling strategies.
  • Leverage digital tools to manage sales activities and customer interactions.
  • Monitor customer interaction with digital commerce channel and provide live support upon customer request, including web chat.
  • Conduct virtual product demonstrations and presentations to showcase ZEISS microscopy solutions.
  • Follow up with customers who engage with our digital commerce channel, but do not complete purchase. Drive these opportunities to a close.
  • Support the completion of online sales transactions that include purchases, leases and subscriptions of both hardware and software.
  • Provide exceptional customer service, addressing inquiries and offering tailored solutions.
  • Act as a trusted advisor by understanding customer needs and recommending appropriate products.
  • Complete product installation and training through virtual tools and support.
  • Work with product marketing to ensure that digital channel sales offers meet customer expectations
  • Advise and assist in development of content for virtual microscopy demonstrations, training and installations.
  • Maintains analyzes and utilizes territory records and other information to efficiently organize, plan, execute and measure results.
  • Provide timely, accurate and constructive written and oral communications to management regarding expected sales and planned monthly activity.
  • Be responsible and assist in market introductions and launches of new products planning.
  • Assist / advise the local sales administration personnel, when necessary, on all matters pertaining to processing customer orders, deliveries, etc.
  • A good working relationship with colleagues, service and office personnel is vital.
  • Pass appropriate leads to the direct sales team
  • Abide by provincial and federal employment laws.

    Experience, Skills and Education Requirements:

    • Bachelor’s Degree in a scientific related field (biology, life sciences or engineering) preferred.
    • 2+ years of experience in sales, preferably in scientific or technical products.
    • Strong knowledge of microscopy or imaging solutions.
    • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport remotely.
    • Proficiency in digital media including web architecture and subscription-based services is an asset.
    • Proven ability to meet or exceed sales targets.
    • Proficiency in using remote sales tools such as CRM systems, virtual meeting platforms, and email marketing.

    • Self-motivated and results-oriented with a proactive approach to sales.
    • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams.
    • Ability to work effectively under pressure with constantly changing priorities and deadlines.
    • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
    • Ability to travel across North America for training and other work-related meetings.
    • Ability to maintain digital presence across Eastern, Mountain and Pacific time zones.
    • Be accessible and responsive during all working days (excluding holidays and vacation days).
