Here’s a summary of the role:

YouGov has an exciting opportunity open for an Onsite Senior Desktop Support Technician to join our dynamic Global IT Support Team.In this role, you will be based onsite 5 days a week in our Bucharest Office and be the first point of contact for end-users, providing high-level technical assistance across a wide range of hardware, software, and network-related issues.

You'll play a key role in maintaining seamless IT operations by delivering high-quality support both remotely and in the office, being an escalation point for Junior technicians to address complex issues and contribute to the development of IT solutions, and collaborating with colleagues across multiple regions and time zones.

Here’s a breakdown of what you’ll do (not all of it, just the important stuff):

  • Global Desktop Support - Provide 2nd and 3rd level end-user support for hardware, software, and network-related issues. Troubleshoot and resolve technical problems promptly to ensure minimal downtime in line with company SLA’s via the IT Support ticketing system. Occasional out-of-hours support or travel may be required to facilitate essential system maintenance or upgrades. Be a trusted advisor and escalation point for the 1st and 2nd line support technicians.

  • Asset Management - Maintain stock levels in your IT hub. Update and maintain the asset register. Prepare and image new machines and mobiles ready for new users including adding to MDM platforms. Manage the asset delivery and collection for remote joiners and leavers. Assist in the secure disposal of old hardware in line with security policies.

  • Hardware and Software Installation and Support - Install, configure, maintain and upgrade laptops, mobiles and peripherals. Install and upgrade software applications as needed.

  • New User IT Onboarding - Help onboard new users to the company both physically and remotely in the Romania and across EMEA. Conduct training sessions for new employees on basic system functionalities

  • Remote Support - Provide remote support to global users, resolving issues through phone, email, or remote assistance tools i.e. TeamViewer

  • Meeting Room and Video Conferencing Support - Provide support for meeting rooms and video conferencing systems in the Romania office and help set up the Town Halls and other large meetings for executive staff

  • Project Work - Assist in planning and executing project work including system upgrades, hardware and software updates, mobile device management configuration, and application administration. Ensure compatibility and functionality during and after project completion.

These are the essentials you’ll need to get an interview:

  • Associate degree or equivalent in a relevant field (e.g., Information Technology, Computer Science).

  • Minimum of 4 years of experience in desktop support or a related field

  • Strong knowledge of Windows operating systems and proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Office365, Active Directory, Azure AD, Teams, SharePoint/OneDrive

  • Experience in troubleshooting hardware, software, and network issues

  • Experience with Atlassian tools (Jira/Confluence) or other IT ticketing systems

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to provide effective customer support

  • Ability to communicate in English proficiently as part of a global IT Support team

  • Basic understanding of IT security principles and practices

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team

It would be great if you had these too, but we’ll support you if you don’t:

  • Experience with Apple macOS, iOS, and other Apple technology

  • Experience with VDI infrastructure

  • Relevant certifications (e.g., CompTIA A+, ITIL, Microsoft Certifications)
