About this role

Here’s a summary of the role:

The Data Enablement Team is responsible for building and maintaining the foundational data infrastructure that powers decision-making across the company. We focus on the ingestion, transformation, and modeling of data. Our goal is to ensure that our data is clean, reliable, and accessible through our centralized data warehouse. By delivering well-structured and trusted datasets, we enable downstream teams such as product, finance, and marketing to own their analytics and reporting independently. We use modern tools like Snowflake, dbt, and Python to ensure our data platform is scalable, efficient, and aligned with business needs.

We are looking for a highly skilled Analytics Engineer to join our Data Enablement team. In this role, you will bridge the gap between data engineering and data analysis by transforming raw data into clean, well-modeled datasets that power business decisions. You’ll work primarily with Snowflake, dbt, and Python to build scalable data models and maintain a robust analytics infrastructure. You will be expected to work with stakeholders, gather requirements, and deliver reliable, timely data solutions that meet business needs.

Here’s a breakdown of what you’ll do (not all of it, just the important stuff):

  • Own the design, development, and maintenance of data models in dbt to transform raw data into usable datasets.
  • Collaborate directly with business stakeholders to gather requirements, define KPIs, and ensure data solutions meet analytical needs.
  • Build and maintain data architecture in Snowflake, ensuring accurate that datasets are accurate and usable.
  • Create and maintain dashboards and other reporting deliverables based on stakeholder needs.
  • Serve as a key liaison between business units and the data team, translating business questions into technical data solutions.
  • Monitor data quality and implement testing frameworks to ensure the integrity of analytical outputs.
  • Create and maintain documentation for data models, metrics definitions, and workflows.

These are the essentials you’ll need to get an interview:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, or related field
  • Proven experience in a technical analytics role
  • Very good knowledge of SQL and proven experience with Python
  • Hands-on experience with dbt for data modeling and transformation.
  • Proficiency with Snowflake or a similar cloud data warehouse platform
  • Experience with reporting and dashboard tools (Power BI, Tableau, Apache Superset)
  • Ability to work both independently and in a team-oriented environment
  • Experience working with large and messy datasets
  • You enjoy collaborating with other engineers and analysts
  • Proven ability to manage stakeholders independently, translate business requirements into technical solutions, and communicate findings clearly.
  • You will always be thinking about new ways you can better solve problems using data
  • You have great communication skills both written and verbal.
  • You embrace the YouGov values

It would be great if you had these to, but we’ll support you if you don’t:

  • Experience with a workflow management system such as Airflow
  • Experience with RDBMS, NoSQL and graph database technologies
