YMCA of Southwestern Ontario was founded in 1856 and has over 200 locations from Goderich to Point Pelee, and Windsor to Woodstock. We are one of the largest not-for-profit providers of licensed child care in Canada and have over 100 school age programs across our regions. We also offer settlement services to newcomers, employment programs, mental health support, and youth programs. YMCA of Southwestern Ontario operates two overnight camps, one in Point Pelee National Park, and one on Beausoleil Island in Muskoka. We also have 15 Health & Fitness branches across Southwestern Ontario.

Employees and volunteers of YMCA of Southwestern Ontario are ambassadors for the Y both on and off the job. Position:     Wellness Coach

Rate of Pay: $17.60/hour
 
Start Date:        3 February 2026

Compensation/Benefits:

    •    Vacation entitlement in accordance with the employment standards regulations
    •    May be entitled to up to 12 paid personal days – applicable with position and contract length

Qualifications & Experience:

  • 2 or more years of training/post secondary education in Physical and/or Health Education or related field along with 1+ years related work experience or a combination of both education and experience is preferred
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • YMCA Fitness Leadership Certification
  • YMCA Leadership in Group, Individual Conditioning (IC 1 and 2), Aquatic Trainers, Personal Trainer (or other recognized certifications)
  • Computer skills including Microsoft Word & Excel, & Outlook
  • Current First Aid and CPR
  • Current and acceptable Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Screening is a condition of employment for all staff and volunteers
  • It is a YMCA of Southwestern Ontario requirement that all employees and volunteers be fully vaccinated against COVID-19. Exemptions will be granted upon receipt of acceptable proof of a permissible Human Rights Code ground. This requirement has been suspended effective June 30, 2022. It may be reinstated in future should the state of public health in our communities require it.

Responsibilities:
 

• YMCA of Southwestern Ontario policy and procedures
• Act as a YMCA ambassador, demonstrating YMCA core values in your daily work
• Responsible for providing coaching, direction and demonstrating techniques in the use of equipment and the expected outcome/benefit of so doing
• Conducts Wellness Coaching sessions and individual program review individual conditioning orientations
• Monitors/supervises access and use of equipment within the weight room area
• Routine maintenance/tidying of Health and Wellness Centre Conditioning Room facility
Manage varying amounts of weight-cleaning, moving equipment, providing instruction
