Position: One to One Coordinator-West, Summer Day Camp

Summary: The Regional One to One Coordinator – West provides leadership and onsite support to One to One Counsellors, ensuring every camper has a positive, safe, and inclusive experience at outdoor camp sites. This includes Camp Saredaca, YLCC, Autism Camp, and Camp Henry’s day camp, as well as providing support to YMCA Branch Camps as needed. This position begins as part-time in May and transitions to full-time at the end of June. This role involves planning, coaching, and supporting staff, managing care plans, and collaborating with site leadership. The Regional One to One Coordinator also assists with day camp operations at YMCA branches as needed. This position reports to the Manager, Day Camps West and Camp Henry.

End Date: September 4, 2026

Salary: $21.05/hour

In this role, you will:

  • Provide onsite leadership for day camp operations across multiple locations, including Camp Saredaca, YLCC, Autism Camp, and Camp Henry’s Day Camp. 
  • Support day camp operations at YMCA Branch Camps as needed.
  • Lead the planning and implementation of engaging camp programs and activities. 
  • Maintain high standards of program quality, camper care, and safety
  • Coach and support One to One Counsellors throughout the season 
  • Collaborate with site teams to assess and respond to camper behaviour 
  • Lead parent conversations regarding camper behaviour, care plans, and program suitability 
  • Develop and maintain individualized care plans for campers
  • Ensure constant supervision and safety of campers
  • Support registration staff with One to One camper registrations 
  • Schedule and manage counsellor assignments across sites 
  • Assist with staff training, administrative logistics, and recognition events
  • Prepare end-of-season reports and statistical summaries 
  • Uphold YMCA policies and promote core values
  • Build positive relationships with staff, volunteers, members, and community partners.

Working Conditions:

  • The position of day Camp Coordinator is front line, providing support and mentorship to multiple Camp Directors. Communicating regularly with parents, campers, and camp staff. 
  • Will be required to work with children between 4 to 16 years old who have physical, emotional, or behavioural disabilities and present with a wide range of abilities.
  • In times of need and/or crisis, the day camp coordinator is expected to provide whatever coverage and assistance that may be required in the interest of the staff, volunteers, members and participants. 
  • Travel is part of this role and can vary in the needs of camp locations. 
  • The role is physical in nature with a lot of standing, walking, running, playing, swimming and possibly lifting if programs or participant needs dictate

Education & Skills Qualifications:

  • 2+ years’ experience in a day camp leadership setting 
  • YMCA experience preferred (related work considered) 
  • Skills in human resources management, day camp and program delivery, and camper behavioral management 
  • Computer knowledge in MS Office (Word and Excel) 
  • Must provide a current criminal record check with vulnerable sector screening as per Association policy 
  • Standard First Aid and CPR-C certification 
  • Daily travel across regional day camp sites; access to reliable transportation is required.
