The Opportunity
As a Facilities Cleaner, you will ensure the cleanliness and upkeep of the YMCA facilities. You will act in a professional manner that leaves a positive impression while helping keep our YMCA welcoming and safe for everyone; members, visitors, and staff alike. Shifts will vary and may include mornings, evenings, and weekends. You will also be required to support cleaning activities across the different YMCA sites in the Saint John area.
Responsibilities
- Maintains the cleanliness, neatness and organization of the housekeeping area.
- Service, clean and supply locker rooms, public restrooms, etc.
- Laundering of towels.
- Clean building floors by sweeping, mopping, scrubbing or vacuuming them.
- Gather and empty trash.
- Clean and polish fixtures.
- Clean windows, glass partitions, and mirrors.
- Dust furniture, walls, machines, and equipment.
- Mix water and detergents in containers to prepare cleaning solutions according to specifications.
Skills and Qualifications
- Cleaning experience in a commercial establishment.
- WHMIS training is an asset, and training will be provided if not already certified.
- Ability to work in a physically demanding environment.
- Flexibility regarding assigned work schedule, evenings and weekends.
- First Aid/CPR/AED or willingness to obtain.
- Employment is contingent on having a clean Criminal Record Check.
