About the Unit

 
Located in Köping near Lake Mälaren, Yara Köping is Yara’s leading producer of Technical Ammonium Nitrate (TAN). With two nitric acid units and two TAN lines, delivers an annual capacity of 360 kt and produces over 100 kt of water treatment products.
The site employs around 130 dedicated professionals.

Responsibilities

As Plant Manager, you will lead the plant operations to ensure safe, efficient, and high-quality production in line with company goals and customer expectations. You will drive continuous improvement across all areas, including production, maintenance, safety, and sustainability, while fostering a culture of operational excellence and accountability. This role requires effective leadership, strategic thinking, and a genuine commitment to developing people and delivering long-term business success.

 

The Plant Manager reports to SVP North Europe and is expected to be based within commuting distance of Köping.

 

Key Responsibilities:

 

  • Ensure full compliance with legal requirements, regulations, and Yara’s Health, Environment, Safety, and Quality (HESQ) standards, serving as a role model for safe and responsible operations.
  • Develop and implement the site vision, strategy, and annual business plan, ensuring alignment with Yara’s overall objectives.
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement across all areas of production, maintenance, and quality to achieve operational excellence.
  • Establish and maintain site-specific policies and procedures that support safety, environmental protection, and product quality.
  • Manage the plant’s financial performance, including budgeting, cost control, and statutory reporting.
  • Evaluate and oversee investment needs and projects in line with the Capital Value Process, ensuring smooth execution and sustainable outcomes.
  • Build strong cooperation within Yara to share best practices and drive consistency in performance and results.
  • Maintain positive relationships with employee representatives, authorities, and other external stakeholders.
  • Plan and secure workforce capabilities and succession pipelines, with a focus on talent development and organizational design.
  • Empower, develop, and support employees, promoting learning, curiosity, technical competence, and a healthy balance between work and personal life.

Profile

 

  • A university degree, preferably in engineering, natural sciences, or a related field, or extensive relevant operational experience.
  • At least five years of relevant experience in site, production, or project management within the chemical industry.
  • Strong ability to create accountability, provide direction, and lead by example.
  • Skilled in building effective teams, making sound decisions, and managing people with empathy and clarity.
  • Solid understanding of operational, commercial, and safety risks, with a proactive approach to improvement and compliance.
  • Curious and growth-oriented mindset, open to learning and sharing best practices across teams.
  • Hands-on, collaborative, and adaptable, with readiness to travel as needed in an international environment.
  • Fluent in Swedish and English.
