Reports to: Corporate Internal Auditor Manager
As a Corporate Internal Auditor, you will be responsible for evaluating and ensuring the compliance of the company’s food safety management systems across all facilities. This role involves performing internal audits, assessing food safety risks, and ensuring adherence to company policies, regulatory requirements, and industry standards. The ideal candidate will have expertise in food safety practices, HACCP (Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points), GFSI (Global Food Safety Initiative) standards, and other relevant regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct scheduled and ad-hoc internal audit/ in-depth process audits across all manufacturing sites to assess compliance with company standards, FDA regulations, and other applicable food safety guidelines (e.g., HACCP, GMP, GFSI).
- Review and evaluate the effectiveness of food safety programs, procedures, and documentation, identifying areas for improvement.
- Generate detailed audit reports that document findings, non-compliance issues, and areas for corrective actions.
- Work with facility teams to ensure corrective actions are implemented and track progress on corrective action plans.
- Assess and report on food safety risks, product safety issues, and operational processes to senior management.
- Recommend improvements to mitigate food safety risks and ensure safe, high-quality products.
- Support the company’s efforts in obtaining and maintaining food safety certifications (e.g., FSSC 22000).
- Prepare facilities for third-party audits and assist in the resolution of any findings.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to continuously improve food safety protocols and practices.
- Directly involved in customer audits to present and clarify issues related to technical , regulatory & Food safety compliance.
- Identify trends and areas of concern within food safety systems and work with cross functional team to develop continuous improvement plans by conducting comprehensive Internal Audits and in-Depth Process Audits
- Assist in the development of standard operating procedures (SOPs) to maintain compliance and improve efficiency in food safety practices.
- Stay current on food safety regulations and industry trends to advise management on updates or changes.
- Provide guidance and training to facility personnel on food safety best practices, audit processes, and regulatory compliance.
- Promote a culture of food safety and continuous improvement within the organization.
- Travel: Regular travel all manufacturing sites may be required (up to 30% of the time).
- Compliance with all rules & policies regarding health safety, occupational safety, environmental safety, food safety, legal regulations, company requirements, etc.
- Compliance with the Company's Integrated Management Systems which includes, but is not limited to Production, Quality, Food Safety & GMP.
- Other duties as assigned.
Preferred Skills
- Experience with statistical analysis software for data interpretation.
- Knowledge of quality management systems, such as ISO 9001 or cGMP
- Familiarity with risk assessment methodologies, such as HACCP or FMEA
- Previous experience in project management
- Certifications: HACCP Certification (required) Internal Auditor Certification (preferred, e.g., ISO 22000, FSSC 22000)
Profile
- Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Food Safety, Environmental Health, or a related field.
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in food safety, quality assurance, or auditing within the food manufacturing industry.
- Strong knowledge of food safety regulations, including FDA, USDA, and GFSI standards.
- Familiarity with auditing tools and methodologies (e.g., process audits, documentation reviews, risk assessments).
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and other auditing software tools.
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently, manage multiple tasks, and meet deadlines.
- Experience with continuous improvement methodologies (e.g., Six Sigma, Lean).
