Position Summary

Support the Xcel automated meter reading and data collection (AMR) applications that contributes to departmental and business unit goals by analyzing, designing, implementing and supporting business processes and information systems. Provide oversight, guidance, leadership and mentoring in the implementation of quality methodologies to effectively improve business results. Support business activities by building relationships, determining business needs, analyzing process improvements opportunities, defining business. This would include Cellnet, Itron, Smart Sync, and future automated data collection systems by analyzing, designing, implementing, and sustaining business processes and information systems. This includes collaboration for all automated data collection systems.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Provide analytical and technical expertise in the development, integration and application of automated data collection systems data requirements to ensure maximum integrity of billing and energy data. Contribute to departmental and business unit strategic and operational goals by working with management, customers, vendors, and other stakeholders to analyze, design, implement and support business processes and information systems. Includes facilitating discussions to identify, document, validate, and analyze business requirements, designing innovative solutions, and making recommendations that support departmental goals.

  • Provide technical input, business feedback, and direction for the development, deployment, and integration of existing and new data applications and automation technologies that optimize the company's customer service and financial goals and commitments. Build and maintain effective working relationships with customers and other project stakeholders to understand and meet/exceed informational needs and expectations.. Interact with management, customers, vendors and other stakeholders through verbal or written communication. Prepare and present PowerPoint presentations to management, customers, and other stakeholders in a wide variety of settings including meetings, customer workshops, training sessions, and information forums. Serve as a technical resource.

  • Develop and sustain daily data flow operations between information systems. Lead projects, which develop and enhance information systems. Prepare business and financial justification for projects. Interface with the Program Management Office. Responsible for assuring that projects are successfully implemented, and that appropriate user acceptance testing is performed. (i.e., CRS, MRAS, MDMS) and AMR operating systems (i.e., Cellnet, Itron, Smart Sync) to ensure data synchronization and accurate, timely data transfer. Resolve data discrepancies and errors without negative impact on customer or internal operations.

  • Define requirements and complete procedures for AMR related data auditing to ensure that maximum quality, timeliness, and integrity of data is maintained. Provide necessary documentation to maintain SOx and internal auditing Serve as a technical resource. Analyze data and develop reports to support the informational needs of the business unit compliance.

  • Keep abreast of automated data collection technology improvements to effectively utilize information technology, field observation, and best practice to design, implement, improve, and maintain AMR related CES Field Ops policies, processes and procedures.


Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelors Degree in information technology, electronics or related field or a combination of education and experience providing equivalent knowledge.

  • Five years experience, which includes 2 yrs in one of the following areas: customer service, marketing, automated metering, communications, revenue protection, distribution operations, engineering and/or information systems.

  • Strong customer focus.

  • Proven leadership and ability to take an initiative from idea conception and start-up through full implementation.

  • Demonstrated attention to detail.

  • Proven communication with strong technical and non-technical audiences.

  • Experience with PC applications and analytical software.

  • Ability to travel occasionally (10%).

Preferred Characteristics

  • Previous experience using SQL, Python, Business Object, PowerBI, and DataBricks is highly preferred.

  • Previous experience manipulating, transforming and presenting data using tools like SQL, Python, R. Power BI, Databricks.

  • Experience collecting and cleaning data from various sources and ensuring data quality.

  • Able to create impactful visualizations to communicate findings effectively.

  • Able to collaborate with stakeholders to understand business challenges and develop data-driven solutions to real-world problems.

The anticipated starting base pay for this position is: $84,900.00 to $120,566.66 per year
