Job Summary:

The painter role involves executing painting tasks, managing materials and equipment, ensuring quality work, and maintaining accurate documentation. The position also requires adherence to safety standards, cooperation with team members, and the ability to estimate material needs while following company policies and procedures.

 

The Details:
Position Type: Seasonal
Season Dates: March 2026 - November 2026 (Actual season dates vary depending on location) 
Pay: $19.50 - $25.75/hour
Schedule: Typical schedule is 40 hours, 5 days per week (may include weekends, evenings, and holidays)

Responsibilities

Painter - $19.50-$21.25/hour

  • Prepares surfaces for coatings, as required, for all assigned interior or exterior tasks.
  • Makes minor repairs as required, evaluating historic fabric for in-kind replacement of materials.
  • Performs painting/staining tasks, as assigned, ensuring quality and professional work is always completed and the proper coating color, sheen, etc. is applied.
  • Accountable for the care, maintenance and security of all assigned materials, equipment and tools.
  • Accountable for proper and accurate documentation of labor and materials into CMMS, for work performed.
  • Responsible for maintaining a safe work environment and complies with all current related codes and regulations.
  • Maintains a location-specific paint log indicating all aspects of products and where utilized.

Painter Lead and Parkwide Paint Lead - $24.35 - $25.75/hour

  • Performs interior and exterior painting tasks as assigned.
  • Job-site oversight of other location painters to ensure:
  • Assigned equipment and tools are properly cared for, maintained and accounted for.
  • Responsible for making minor historically accurate carpentry repairs prior to painting.
  • Quality, professional work is completed.
  • Safe working conditions are established before work begins and maintained while work is i
  • Assists the Tradesman Lead, Assistant Maintenance Manager and Maintenance Manager evaluating the skill levels of location Painters and General Maintenance Technicians so that painting tasks can be effectively assigned.

Qualifications

Painters

  • Have at least one year of commercial painting experience.
  • Be proficient in the operation and use of equipment and tools common to the painting trade.
  • Have general knowledge of OSHA requirements.
  • Be capable of and willing to advance his or her painting knowledge and expertise through on-the-job training and self-study.
  • Painters must be at least 19 years old and possess a current, valid, driver’s license with a good driving record. 

Painter Lead and Parkwide Painter Lead

  • Must have a minimum of 3 years of professional painter experience or equivalent.
  • Must be proficient in supervising personnel in accordance with all Xanterra policies and procedures.
  • Must be proficient in the operations and use of all painting equipment common to the trade.
  • Must be able to efficiently schedule tasks to ensure timely arrival of materials and equipment and effective use of personnel.
  • Must participate in 16 hours of annual Historic Preservation Training
  • Must have general knowledge of OSHA requirements, including fall protection, scaffolding, and the lead and asbestos programs.
  • Paint Lead must be 21 years old and possess a current, valid, driver’s license with a good driving record. 
  • Within 90 days must attend and complete the Class III Asbestos abatement and removal training and certification program.

Physical Requirements include:

  • This position will require the use of respiratory protection and will require compliance with applicable regulations, including a clean-shaven face and to be able to pass a DOT physical.
  • Must be capable of lifting and moving objects weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Must possess physical stamina to withstand heavy labor related to work in an outside environment.
  • Must be able to walk long distances over uneven terrain and climb stairs and ladders in all types of weather conditions.
  • Must be able to stand, bend, kneel, and crawl for extended periods of time as required.
