Prepare charts and physical facilities for patient visits. Assist with medical procedures during patient visits. Establishes helpful and friendly relationships with patients.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, AND/OR LICENSURE:

1. Current unencumbered licensure with the WV Board of Practical Nursing, or appropriate state board where services will be provided, as a practical nurse OR current multi-state licensure through the enhanced Nurse Licensure Compact (eNLC).

2. Current CPR required.

1. Experience as an LPN

CORE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: The statements described here are intended to describe the general nature of work being performed by people assigned to this position.  They are not intended to be constructed as an all-inclusive list of all responsibilities and duties.  Other duties may be assigned.

1. Check examining rooms daily - clean and stock as required.

2. Prepare patients for the physician.  For example:  weigh patients, measure patients, perform tests as necessary.

3. Clean examining room after patient leaves.

4. Carry out physician orders, ie. give injections, make appointments, clean and bandage wounds, do assigned treatments.

5. Assist physician and/or Nurse Practitioner with treatments.

6. Screen incoming calls - decide if the physician and/or Nurse Practitioner needs to see or call patient.

7. Inform parents how to care for and what to expect from their illness.

8. Periodically check entire work area including waiting rooms and tidy up as necessary

9. Record test (lab, radiology, etc.) results in patient charts and contact patients as necessary regarding tests

10. Collect Urine Drug Screen Specimens and do proper paperwork.

11. Perform Breath Alcohol Tests

12. Perform Well Child exam and administer immunizations.

13. Contact pharmacies to authorize prescribed medication for patients.

14. Pull and process patient charts for next day.  This includes such items as stamping, adding sheets, updating immunizations

15. Thoroughly clean and stock each examination room weekly

16. Make patient appointments

17. Perform filing, answer phone, and other duties as assigned by the physician
