This Opportunity

Leads key aspects of construction project execution by coordinating field operations, overseeing compliance with project requirements, and driving successful delivery outcomes across schedule, budget, safety, and quality metrics. Applies wide-ranging experience and in-depth construction knowledge to resolve complex field issues, guide project teams, and contribute to continuous improvement in construction management practices. Serves as a primary point of coordination between contractors, engineers, clients, and regulatory agencies while fostering collaboration, accountability, and technical excellence. Plays a critical role in the interpretation and execution of construction documents, proactive risk mitigation, and the mentoring of less experienced professionals across a variety of project types.

Your Impact

  • Lead the coordination and oversight of construction activities to ensure compliance with design documents, specifications, and contract requirements.
  • Oversee field inspections and monitor progress to validate work completion and conformance with approved plans and standards.
  • Manage the review of RFIs, submittals, shop drawings, change orders, and other key construction documents.
  • Provide technical guidance to project teams and field personnel to resolve complex construction and coordination issues.
  • Serve as the on-site liaison for contractors, subcontractors, clients, and design teams to support clear and timely communication.
  • Track and analyze project schedules and critical path activities to identify potential delays and recommend mitigation measures.
  • Monitor construction safety performance and support enforcement of site-specific safety plans and procedures.
  • Support quality assurance and quality control efforts through documentation review, inspection coordination, and corrective action tracking.
  • Conduct constructability reviews and contribute to pre-construction planning efforts to improve field execution.
  • Participate in weekly progress meetings, safety briefings, and client coordination meetings.
  • Document field conditions, construction activities, and inspection results in accordance with project standards.
  • Review and validate contractor progress payments based on field verification of quantities and completion milestones.
  • Support the resolution of claims, disputes, and non-conformance issues by providing field insight and supporting documentation.
  • Oversee and track construction punch list development, resolution, and closeout deliverables.
  • Collaborate with project controls teams to align field observations with cost and schedule performance indicators.
  • Ensure compliance with environmental regulations, permits, and site-specific regulatory requirements.
  • Assist with workforce planning, resource coordination, and sequencing of work to optimize project execution.
  • Mentor junior staff and contribute to knowledge transfer by sharing best practices and lessons learned.
  • Provide support for business development efforts by contributing technical insight and field knowledge to proposals or pursuits.
  • Use construction management software to support field coordination, data reporting, and digital documentation.
  • Maintain familiarity with industry standards, codes, and evolving practices in construction methods and technologies.
  • Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources, and conduct, and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.
  • Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs.

Who You Are

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in construction management or closely related discipline, or demonstrated proven equivalent experience.
  • 5 to 7 years of relevant post-education experience in construction management or related areas.
  • 3 or more years in design, construction, operations, engineering or maintenance of utility systems/power generation plants or related industries/fields
  • Comprehensive understanding of construction sequencing, delivery methods, and field execution practices.
  • Experience resolving complex construction challenges in the field and coordinating technical solutions.
  • Demonstrated ability to interpret and apply contract documents, design drawings, and technical specifications.
  • Proficiency with reviewing and managing RFIs, submittals, change orders, and field design clarifications.
  • Strong knowledge of construction scheduling principles, critical path methods, and progress evaluation.
  • Experience managing safety requirements and coordinating with safety personnel to enforce compliance.
  • Familiarity with federal, state, and local permitting and environmental regulations affecting construction projects.
  • Ability to manage and monitor quality assurance and control processes, including field testing and inspections.
  • Proficiency in preparing and reviewing construction progress reports, daily logs, and field documentation.
  • Ability to support dispute resolution processes by contributing technical field input and supporting records.
  • Strong communication skills for facilitating meetings, resolving conflicts, and coordinating across teams.
  • Working knowledge of construction management software platforms, such as Procore, Bluebeam, or similar systems.
  • Understanding of earned value concepts and ability to align field activities with project controls.
  • Ability to lead constructability reviews and contribute to preconstruction planning and risk identification.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple field tasks, contractors, and deadlines simultaneously.
  • Ability to lead and guide junior construction staff in the application of project procedures and technical standards.
  • Capable of analyzing field data to make informed decisions that align with project objectives.
  • Understanding of project closeout requirements and experience managing punch list resolution.
  • Demonstrated initiative in identifying areas for process improvement and contributing to implementation.
  • Proven ability to develop collaborative relationships with contractors, clients, consultants, and stakeholders.
  • Willingness to work in both field and office settings to support construction delivery efforts.
  • Demonstrated commitment to ethical practices, safety leadership, and high standards of quality.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's Degree.
  • OSHA 30-hour construction safety certification.
  • Certified Construction Manager (CCM) credential or equivalent.
  • Experience managing construction for major infrastructure, Power Delivery, or Utility projects.
  • Proficiency with scheduling software such as Primavera P6.
