Job Description:

World vision Solomon Islands is committed to promote gender equality in Solomon Islands. The Gender Equality Project focuses on this. It is currently being implemented in 10 communities, 5 in Honiara and 5 in Malaita. She/he will be responsible for managing 1 Project coordinator, 1 DME, and 2 CDFs. She/he will directly report to the SPM for Gender and Child Protection.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITY:

  • Project management and Reporting
  • Representation and Management
  • People Leadership and team management
  • Capacity building

KNOWLEDGE/QUALIFICATION:

  • 3-5 years’ experience in community development or in a relief setting with management experience 
  • Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Project Management, Child Protection and Community Development  
  • Good interpersonal skills and cross-cultural sensitivity.  
  • Effective in written and oral communication; able to speak and write with a good standard of English.
  • Good knowledge of community development, via working on projects in communities. 
  • High level of organizational and management skills 
  • Knowledgeable in Child Protection Standards
  • Strong knowledge in computer applications including word processing and spreadsheets. 
  • Must be a team builder committed to the transfer of knowledge 
  • Good training and facilitation skills 
  • Ability and willingness to learn and apply new knowledge and skills 
  • Willing to travel around the province and visit / stay in communities (up to 75% of time).  
  • Ability and willingness to learn and apply new knowledge and skills 
  • Background/understanding of child protection laws
