IT Asset Management Specialist (HAM/SAM)

About this role
Key Responsibilities
- Own the ITAM lifecycle (plan, acquire, receive, deploy, move, retire/dispose) for hardware and software assets.
- Maintain asset records and configuration items in the CMDB; ensure data quality, reconciliation, and governance.
- Administer ServiceNow HAM/SAM (models, discovery, normalization, entitlements, reconciliation) and drive continuous improvement.
- Coordinate with Procurement and Finance on asset receiving, tagging, stock/warehouse operations, and capitalization/expense treatment.
- Establish, monitor, and report ITAM KPIs (e.g., inventory accuracy, license compliance rate, utilization, aging/retirement cycle time).
- Lead or support internal/external audits for asset and license compliance; remediate findings and strengthen controls.
- Define and document ITAM processes, workflows, and RACI; deliver training and change management to stakeholders.
- Partner with End-User Services on request fulfillment, refresh programs, and break/fix asset movements.
- Prepare executive-ready dashboards and reports; surface optimization opportunities (re-harvesting, right-sizing, vendor negotiations).
- Ensure adherence to enterprise policies and standards (InfoSec Asset Management Policy, change management, access controls).
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- 3+ years of hands-on experience in IT Asset Management covering both HAM and SAM in a corporate environment.
- Experience administering ServiceNow ITAM (SAM Pro/HAM); familiarity with Intune or discovery tools.
- Working knowledge of CMDB concepts, data quality controls, and reconciliation practices.
- Understanding of software licensing models (Microsoft, Adobe, etc.) and compliance/reconciliation methods.
- Strong analytical skills with proficiency in Excel; experience with reporting/BI tools (e.g., Power BI) is a plus.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills; able to work cross-functionally with Procurement, Finance, and IT operations.
- Process mindset with documentation skills; ITIL Foundation certification is a plus.
- English required; Spanish proficiency is beneficial for local coordination.
