Wood is currently recruiting for Principal Mechanical Engineer with significant experience in the Oil, Gas and/or Petrochemical industries, having held both operational facing and EPC roles. Candidates shall have experience of working closely with clients and vendors.
The role is required to work under the Engineering Manager to support the execution of scopes across all Project phases (Concept to Start-up) based within our Hull office, where we recognise the value of hybrid working.
Job Objectives
Contributing to technical delivery of engineering excellence through:
- Executing assigned scopes of work
- Providing discipline expertise to the business.
- Uses technical knowledge to perform engineering assignments and produce engineering deliverables including complex problems.
- Creates and reviews designs, drawings, specifications, and other engineering deliverables involving both existing and new technology and applications
- Requires mature professional knowledge in planning and conducting assignments having scope for coordination of difficult tasks.
- Problems presented involve new concepts and new and varied issues that demand technical expertise, increased innovations, or considerable modifications of precedents.
Contributes to the delivery of Engineering and Operational excellence through:
- Executing assigned scopes of work.
- Supporting and supervising task delegation to team.
- Technically competent in own discipline and actively maintains own competence according to standards and pursues continuous professional development.
- Provide discipline support to the business.
- Ensure self-awareness of relevant regulatory framework, legislation changes, initiatives and industry technology developments and promote to direct reports.
- Provide discipline input to scope definition and execution.
- Relevant experience in operational and maintenance engineering.
- Ability to work on own initiative and highlight areas of production risk due to equipment vulnerability.
- Supporting and supervising tasks delegated to direct reports.
- Executing assigned personal objectives
- Self-motivated and pro-active with good written and verbal communication skills to be able to pass on information
