Shared Health leads the planning and coordinates the integration of patient-centered clinical and preventive health services across Manitoba. The organization also delivers some province-wide health services and supports centralized administrative and business functions for Manitoba health organizations.
In accordance with discipline-specific standards of practice, and under the supervision of the Coordinator of Patient Services, the Speech Language Pathologist is responsible for speech language therapy and programming for patients at SMHC. Speech Language Therapy includes diagnosis and treatment of communication, cognitive and swallowing disorders, including meal management issues. Programming includes ongoing assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of speech language therapies in promoting the rehabilitation of persons with psychiatric illness, physical disabilities, and/or acquired brain injury. The incumbent is responsible for the supervision of staff /volunteers/students working with them. The incumbent provides regular instruction, support, coaching, and professional leadership to patient/staff/families supporting and/or implementing speech language therapies.
