Position Summary       

Under the supervision of the Director of Resident Care, the Registered Nurse (RN) is responsible for providing comprehensive nursing care to residents in accordance with established standards, policies, and procedures.  The RN provides clinical direction to Health Care Aides, LPNs and Nurse II’s when the RN is assigned charge responsibilities.  The Registered Nurse recognizes and fulfill their Professional responsibilities by practicing in a manner consistent with professional obligations to take actions as per the Canadian Nurses Association Code of Ethics for Registered Nurses and Registered Psychiatric Nurse, The College of Psychiatric Nurses of Manitoba Standards of Psychiatric Nursing Practice, the scope of practice as defined the Registered Nurses Act, the Registered Psychiatric Nurses Act, and other Provincial and Federal legislation.  The position of Registered Nurse functions in a manner consistent with, and supports the Mission, Vision and Values of Betel Home.

 

Qualifications

Active practicing licensure with the College of Registered Nurses of Manitoba (CRNM) or College of Registered Psychiatric Nurses of Manitoba (CRPNM) or eligible for active practicing licensure with CRNM or CRPNM

Current Basic Life Support (BLS) training

Knowledge, competence and ability to demonstrate clinical nursing skills and concepts in accordance with approved nursing standards.

Basic knowledge and skills to work with computers, and electronic software programs.

Experience in geriatrics and dementia care preferred

Ability to make effective decisions regarding nursing care

Demonstrated effective problem solving, organization skills and the ability to work independently and collaboratively

Demonstrated communication skills

Demonstrated critical thinking skills

Ability to maintain positive working relationships with co-workers, residents and the public

Proficient in English.  The ability to communicate in more than one language would be considered an asset.

 

Physical Requirements

Moderate to heavy physical effort required

 

This position requires a current satisfactory Criminal Records Check (including Vulnerable Sector Search), Child Abuse Registry Check and Adult Abuse Registry Check as conditions of employment. The successful candidate will be responsible for any service charges incurred. A security check is considered current if it was obtained no more than six (6) months prior to the start of employment
