As part of the Provincial Pharmacy Shared Service leadership team, the incumbent will coordinate provincial design, implementation and maintenance of all aspects of the Shared Health provincial acute care formulary, including oversight on formulary integration into the Electronic Clinical Record and drug information resources to support formulary management.

The organization also delivers some province-wide health services and supports centralized administrative and business functions for Manitoba health organizations.

Position Overview

Reporting to the Director of Drug Supply and Technology the incumbent is responsible and accountable for the planning and management of patient-centered pharmaceutical care services and administrative responsibilities as assigned.

As a member of the Provincial Pharmacy Shared Services Leadership Team, the incumbent ensures that pharmaceutical care services are aligned with strategic priorities and meet high standards of quality and patient safety.

The incumbent provides oversight for clinical pharmacy service standards and leads pharmacy staff in establishing efficient and effective delivery of clinical services. These services will ensure a safe, timely, and cost-effective medication management system that supports patient-centered pharmaceutical care.

Experience

  • Minimum of five years’ experience as a practicing pharmacist is required.

Education (Degree/Diploma/Certificate)

  • Completion of a Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy, or equivalent undergraduate pharmacy degree is required.
  • Post-graduate education/training in a relevant field of study and/or completion of a pharmacy practice residency program is preferred.

Certification/Licensure/Registration

  • Licensed, or eligibility for licensure, as a pharmacist in the Province of Manitoba.
  • Membership in the Canadian Society of Hospital Pharmacists is required.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Demonstrated poise, aptitude for communicating professional information, and ability to deal with matters of an urgent or emergent nature.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, interpersonal and verbal/written communication skills.
  • Ability to utilize information systems technologies for communication, word processing, spreadsheet applications, and other common needs.
  • Ability to function effectively in a multidisciplinary setting.
  • Ability to create and maintain effective working relationships with other individuals in superior, peer, subordinate and client positions.
  • Demonstrated interest in professional growth.
  • Demonstrated commitment to optimizing the contribution that pharmacy services can make to the care of individual patients and to the health care system as a whole.

Physical Requirements

  • Must be able to travel to multiple sites within Manitoba and have a valid driver’s license and use of personal vehicle.
