In addition to day shifts, this position may require working modified day, evening, or modified evening shifts. 

 

Shared Health leads the planning and coordinates the integration of patient-centered clinical and preventive health services across Manitoba. The organization also delivers some province-wide health services and supports centralized administrative and business functions for Manitoba health organizations.

 

Position Overview

Under the general supervision of the applicable Director and in collaboration with the Program Teams, the incumbent is responsible for:

  • Educational program development for:
    • Nursing staff including R.N.s, L.P.N.s, R.P.N.s.
    • Support staff including U.A.s, N.A.s, U.C.s and/or applicable technicians.
  • Teaching and learning activities.
  • Nursing practice standards.
  • Patient education development.
  • Professional and Self Development.

Experience

  • Must have a minimum of four years recent related nursing experience with demonstrated competency in a defined area of clinical nursing practice.
  • Previous experience in teaching, education and program development and evaluation is preferred.

Education (Degree/Diploma/Certificate)

  • Baccalaureate degree in Nursing required.
  • Master's degree in Nursing is preferred (equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered).
  • Certificate or certification in a related specialty area preferred.
  • Note: In certain circumstances, certification as an instructor in a specialty training course (e.g. ACLS, PALS, NRP, etc.) may be stated as a requirement.

Certification/Licensure/Registration

  • Must be registered or eligible for registration with the College of Nurses of Manitoba (C.R.N.M.).
  • Active participation in professional associations e.g. Association of Regulated Nurses of Manitoba (ARNM) preferred.
  • Current CPR (Targeted Responder) certification required.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Scope of practice as documented in the Regulated Health Professions Act (RHPA).
  • Excellent interpersonal and verbal and written communication skills.
  • Preference will be given to those applicants competent in an Indigenous language and/or knowledge in Indigenous customs, traditions and values.
  • Demonstrated ability to problem-solve in complex situations.
  • Evidence of knowledge of the principles of adult learning and teaching strategies.
  • Demonstrated ability to function creatively and independently.
  • Demonstrated commitment to continued professional development.
  • Initiates and supports change.
  • Demonstrated leadership ability.
  • Competency with word processing and presentation programs, required.
