Shared Health leads the planning and coordinates the integration of patient-centered clinical and preventive health services across Manitoba. The organization also delivers some province-wide health services and supports centralized administrative and business functions for Manitoba health organizations.

 

Position Overview

Reporting to the Operations Coordinator, the incumbent is responsible for customer service and assistance, food preparation, setup, assembly, portioning, packaging and distribution of food and supply items, general cleaning and sanitizing of area and equipment, ware washing and waste removal, re-stocking or replenishing supplies, inventory, temperature monitoring, requisition of food and paper supplies, maintaining area cleanliness, handling service complaints, and limited clerical activities. May be required to perform cash transactions. Courteous and effective customer service is a critical component of this position. Performs duties in accordance with established policies/procedures, daily operating standards, production and activity schedules, brand standards, timeframes, and quality assurance and risk management programs.

Experience

  • Previous food service experience preferred.

Education (Degree/Diploma/Certificate)

  • Minimum Grade 10 education, Manitoba standards, required.
  • Successful completion of or completion within the probation period, of a recognized food handling course (i.e. Manitoba Food Handlers) is required.
  • Must successfully complete the Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS), Allergy Awareness and other safety training programs within the probation/trial period.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Preference will be given to those applicants competent in an Indigenous language and/or knowledge in Indigenous customs, traditions and values.
  • Excellent command of the English language, both oral and written, required.
  • Must have excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
  • Must be able to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Must be able to maintain and execute high standards of safety and sanitation.
  • Must be able to cope in a fast-paced environment.
  • Minimum standards of efficiency must be achieved.

Physical Requirements

  • Must be capable of accurately performing a variety of repetitive tasks requiring good manual dexterity.
  • Must be able to handle multiple demands in a fast-paced environment within set time frames and guidelines.
  • Work area may be congested and subject to temperature variations of -20 C to 25 C.
  • Lifting, bending, turning, pushing, walking, standing for entire shift may be required.
  • Must be able to walk and/or stand for extended periods of time.
  • Retail Food Services operates 7 days per week, 24 hours per day.
  • The incumbent is required to work days, irregular shifts, evenings, weekends, and holidays in order to meet the demand of continuous operation.
