About this role

Salary: TA/ELSA Grade E 6-8 £25,989 - £26,824 per annum pro rata, MDSA Grade B2 £24,413 per annum pro rata

Hours of work: 8.40am-3.15 pm Monday to Friday in term time as a TA (27 hours 55 minute per week) and 30 minutes per day as an MDSA (2.5 hours per week).

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our professional and aspirational team at St John’s Catholic Primary School. We are creating a new role and seeking to appoint an experienced, committed and compassionate Teaching Assistant with ELSA leadership responsibilities to join our large and thriving Catholic primary school.

Our school is a vibrant, inclusive community rooted in Gospel values, where every child is welcome and known, valued and supported to achieve their full potential. We are proud to have recently achieved Outstanding in all areas of our Section 48 inspection, recognising the strength of our Catholic life, leadership and care for pupils.

All about the role:

The role will include:

  • Delivering daily emotional and wellbeing support as part of the ELSA role across the school age range
  • Working closely alongside the Inclusion Lead and wider pastoral team to plan, implement and review support strategies
  • Working 1:1 with a child with complex needs, providing consistent, sensitive and personalised support
  • Supporting learning and development within the classroom and through targeted interventions
  • Contributing positively to a nurturing, inclusive and safe learning environment
  • Being part of our OPAL (Outdoor play and learning) lunchtime team which ensures that every day every child has access to high quality purposeful play 

The successful candidate will:

  • Be an experienced Teaching Assistant, ideally with ELSA training or a strong commitment to developing this role
  • Have experience of supporting pupils with complex or additional needs
  • Demonstrate patience, empathy and resilience, with a calm and reflective approach
  • Work effectively as part of a strong, collaborative staff team
  • Support and uphold the Catholic ethos and values of the school
