A bit about us:

Oaksey CE Primary School is a small village primary school with a strong team ethos and a caring family atmosphere. Our school vision statement “As individuals we let our ‘light’ shine but we shine brighter together” is at the heart of our curriculum, teaching and learning. Children and staff are encouraged as individuals to reflect on their strengths and talents, and by sharing these and working collectively and collaboratively, we ensure that we are all able to make positive contributions towards the school and community.

We have recently had a successful OFSTED inspection and have been re-accredited with the NACE Challenge Award.  Both these inspections recognised the inclusivity of our setting with both pupils and staff and the successful candidate will be required to uphold our school ethos.

All about the role:

We are looking for an enthusiastic, dedicated 1:1 Teaching Assistant to support a Year 4 pupil with an EHCP whose main difficulties are SEMH. You will be passionate about working with children and ideally have SEND experience.  The role will involve supporting the pupil to develop social relationships, access whole class learning, develop an understanding of emotional literacy and regulation, and work with the pupil individually to meet EHCP outcomes.   The successful candidate will work closely with the class teacher and SENCo.

You will:

  • be someone with a keen interest in working with children and a commitment to inclusion
  • have an understanding of classroom roles and responsibilities and how a teaching assistant supports students in their learning
  • be able to engage students and manage behaviour on a one to one or small group basis
  • be committed to work with external agencies such as Behaviour Support Service
  • be committed to training such as Trauma Informed Practice and Emotional Coaching
  • have strong interpersonal skills, in particular with the ability to demonstrate empathy and active listening
