RTT Inspector
Location: Atlanta, GA
Position Type: Full-Time
Willmer Engineering is seeking a dependable and detail-oriented RTT Inspector to join our field services team. In this role, you will perform on-site quality control inspections and testing of construction materials including soil, concrete, and asphalt to ensure projects comply with safety standards, design plans, and technical specifications. This position provides hands-on field experience and opportunities for career growth in a collaborative and supportive environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Contribute to department goals by supporting project delivery, quality standards, and client expectations.
- Perform soil density testing using nuclear gauge and sand cone methods in accordance with ASTM, GDOT, and project specifications.
- Collect concrete samples and perform field testing, including slump, air, and temperature tests.
- Conduct asphalt sampling and testing as required.
- Perform proof rolls, undercut observations, footing inspections, and other construction monitoring activities.
- Carry out quality assurance inspections and material sampling to ensure compliance with project requirements.
- Interpret project plans, drawings, and specifications to verify construction adherence.
- Prepare detailed field reports, document daily activities, and calculate testing data accurately.
- Monitor work procedures for safety compliance, including proper handling of nuclear density gauges.
Coordinate with clients, supervisors, foremen, engineers, and contractors on site.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- GDOT RTT Certification required or ability to obtain.
- ACI Concrete Field Testing certification preferred.
- Radiation Safety Training for Nuclear Gauges required.
- Experience ranging from entry-level to experienced technician levels (0–7+ years).
- Strong understanding of construction materials and field testing procedures.
- Ability to read and interpret construction plans and specifications.
- Valid driver’s license with a safe driving record required.
- Ability to lift 50+ pounds and work outdoors in varying weather conditions.

- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to perform basic calculations and data reporting (Excel proficiency preferred).
- Ability to work independently in field environments.
