Wildwood School is currently seeking a dynamic educator who is interested in and responsive to an evolving and innovative educational environment. Central to its K-12 program is our emphasis on student-centered inquiry that is hands-on, collaborative, discerning, and reflective. Students are expected to think critically in authentic ways about how to think (not what to think) and to develop a sense of intrinsic motivation as lifelong learners. Learning at Wildwood is rigorous and complex. Essential questions that focus on transferable and enduring understanding provide students with footholds as they work to master the discipline-specific standards of their courses. During their analysis of case studies, fieldwork exploration, evidence-based argumentation in writing, hypothesis testing in lab work, and synthesis of perspectives in small-group projects, Wildwood students gain an understanding of who they are, how they think, how they feel, what they can do, and why.

Position Overview

The Afterschool Staff is a part-time position (about 16-20 hours per week from 3:00 pm -6:00 pm Monday-Thursday and 2:00 pm -6:00 pm on Friday) for an individual passionate about joining a team-building program at a progressive school in Los Angeles. This position is non-exempt and reports directly to the Director of Auxiliary Programming. This position adheres to all of Wildwood’s protocols, such as multicultural guidelines and SEL programming.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Support the Afterschool Coordinator with Afterschool supervision, programming, and daily operations
• Supervise and ensure the physical and social-emotional safety of all children in the Afterschool Program
• 
  Maintain daily operations for the elementary Afterschool program, including attendance tablets and accuracy of attendance, communication with Afterschool Coordinator and other staff, students, and families in regards to programming, and other operational duties assigned by the Afterschool Coordinator
• Direct school closing at 6:00 p.m., coordinate with any late parents and watch children
• Keep the Afterschool Room neat and orderly
• Maintain a safe environment for students and staff

Qualifications

• Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree preferred with a focus on education
• Warm, approachable, and passionate about customer service
• Possess the ability to engage and inspire students, parents, and colleagues
• Detail-oriented with excellent organizational and time management skills
• Risk-taker with a creative and collaborative approach to problem-solving
• Outstanding multitasking skills and ability
• Exceptional verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills

 conflict resolution skills

• Adept at giving and receiving instructions, as well as working independently
• K-5 elementary experience is desirable

Salary Range: $22.00 - $25.00
