About this role

SUMMARY:

 

This position has direct responsibility to ensure that all work activities under its span of control are performed with attention to the highest standards of food quality, safe processes, compliance with all appropriate legal requirements and a focus on continuous process improvement.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS, RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

 

  • Continually enforce and verify food safety and sanitation policies throughout the plant
  • Listeria testing.
  • Instrument calibrations.
  • Monthly glass, brittle, and plastic inspection
  • Bi-weekly food safety observation
  • Retained samples collection
  • Raw material sampling
  • GMP audits
  • Team member training on various policies and procedures including GMPs, SOPs and HACCP.
  • In line product weight and temperature verification
  • Allergen testing
  • Translate company policies and procedures
  • Product evaluation
  • Per-operational inspection daily
  • Receiving/Shipping Observation
Documentation verification, review and filing

  • While performing the duties of this job, the team member is frequently required stand, walk, talk and hear
  • Use hands and fingers to feel, handle, or operate objects, tools, or controls and reach with hands and arms.
  • Be standing on feet majority of the workday in addition to walking back and forth.
  • Lift and/or move up to 40 pounds. Lifting while turning side to side is sometimes necessary.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus.

Position sometimes requires extended hours including evenings and/or weekends, travel to multiple work sites and occasional out-of-state travel.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • The work is performed primarily in a manufacturing and warehouse environment, specifically the packing and warehousing areas
  • Standing most of the work day is required.
  • Work requires movement in and out of store rooms, near heavy machinery and freezers
  • The noise level in the work environment is moderate to loud.
  • Exposure to extreme temperatures (hot and cold) due to cooking and refrigeration equipment.

Payrate $17.00 per hour

Qualifications

Education:

  • High School Graduate

 

Certifications:

  • HACCP certification - Preferred
  • Servsafe certification - Preferred
  • PCQI - Preferred
  • Willing to achieve certifications after hire

 

Computer Skills:

  • Proficient with all computer applications in order to perform the job

 

Preferred Qualifications, Experience and Competencies:

  • Minimum 2 years' experience as a QA technician, preferably in a USDA inspected facility
  • Must be able to speak, read and write English.
  • Experience with enforcing a HACCP Program
  • Experience with basic lab procedure
  • Good verbal and written communication skills - Knowledge of Spanish a plus
  • Must be Organized and attentive to details
  • Must be Self-motivated, have a strong sense of urgency and a bias for action
  • Must be flexible in challenging and complex work environment while firmly maintaining compliance and upholding standards
