Job Summary

Responsible for specialized distribution center tasks in receiving, inventory, customer service, and/or order processing.

Major Tasks, Responsibilities and Key Accountabilities

  • Receives, counts, and records shipment data into the system. Matches packing list information to actual packed merchandise. Prepares packages/merchandise for storage.
  • Packs, unpacks, and marks stock items efficiently, using identification tag, stamp, or electronic marking tool or other labeling equipment.
  • Identifies inconsistencies and immediately reports to Lead Hand/Supervisor.
  • Delivers products, supplies, and equipment to designated areas. Operates one or more of the following machinery (counterbalance forklift, walkie rider, reach, Moffatt) in order to complete tasks.
  • Verifies bin integrity and physical count of stock.
  • Maintains condition of work area (i.e. free of trash, product in correct location, etc.).
  • Follows company safety policies and procedures and encourages other associates to do the same.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Nature and Scope

  • Refers complex, unusual problems to supervisor.
  • Under general supervision, exercises some judgment in accordance with well-defined policies, procedures, and techniques. Work typically involves regular review of output by a senior coworker or supervisor.
  • None.

Work Environment

  • Usually located in a comfortable environment but with regular exposure to factors causing moderate physical discomfort, such as dust, fumes, or odors.
  • Requires intermittent periods during which continuous physical exertion is required, such as walking, standing, stooping, climbing, lifting, and maneuvering material or equipment that may be heavy (50+ pounds) or awkward.
  • Typically requires overnight travel less than 5% of the time.

Education and Experience

  • HS Diploma or GED strongly preferred. Specialized skills training/certification may be required. Generally 2-5 years of experience in area of responsibility.
