What you will do: 


The Automotive Technician team is responsible for the maintenance and repair of Wheelhouse’ fleet of program and support vehicles, as well as small equipment. This team plays a crucial role in ensuring that our vehicles are safe, reliable, and performing at their best. 


  • Maintaining/repairing the various fleets of program and support vehicles, as well as small equipment.
  • Troubleshoot, diagnose, and identify solutions to vehicle and equipment issues.
  • Complete maintenance/repairs on engines, electrical systems, brakes, transmissions, clutches, tires, etc.
  • Track parts, supplies, and/or time on any and all work performed.
  • Utilize computer-based vehicle diagnostic software for repairs and procedures.
  • Provide track-side support during programs as assigned.
  • Develop and maintain a strong knowledge of Wheelhouse, its products and programs.
  • Protect the moral, legal, and financial well-being of Wheelhouse.
  • Continually work with other team members and departments for new and better ways of accomplishing work and results with an emphasis on safety, accountability, leadership, and guest service.
  • Perform any other job duties as assigned by management.

Requirements

  

Knowledge and Skills You Possess:

  • 2–5 years’ experience as an automotive technician working in a fully functional mechanic shop.
  • Computer-based diagnostic platforms—Ford Service Net and Ford IDS/FDRS background—are preferred.
  • High School Graduate or Equivalent.
  • Ability to interact well with customers and fellow team members.
  • Strong verbal communication skills
  • Ability to prioritize tasks in the most productive and/or appropriate manner.
  • Ability to make quick, sound decisions based on facts.
  • Problem-solving and creative thinking.
  • Maintain a current forklift operator certificate.
  • Proficient manual transmission operation.
  • Graduate of the Ford Asset Program preferred, and/or other certifications preferred.


Expectations:

  • Adhere to an event-driven work schedule—primarily Monday through Friday—with some evenings, weekends, and holidays required.
  • Adhere to all company policies and procedures.
  • Professionally represent the company in the community, industry organizations, and during events.
  • Use proper and professional language in the workplace, when interfacing with guests or potential clients, and when representing the company in an official capacity.
  • Be efficient with time management skills, allowing work to get done in a timely manner.
  • Demonstrate an ability to perform quality work with no errors in a timely manner.
  • Show respect for others. 
  • Maintain a positive attitude.
  • Maintain a current valid driver’s license, a clean driving record, and pass background and drug screening.


Physical Demands:

  • May be required to work long hours—in various weather conditions. 
  • Active, physical, on-the-go daily workflow.
  • Must be able to lift up to 100 pounds unassisted.
  • Moderate to high levels of stress may be associated with this position.

About Wheelhouse East, Inc.

Since opening in 2006, Ford Performance Racing School has provided instruction in high-performance driving to drivers of all levels. In addition to offering traditional driving instruction at retail, the school is home to business and product training programs conducted for Michelin/BFGoodrich, as well as the complimentary programs offered to first owners of new Ford Performance vehicles exclusively.
