About this role

The Sales Director - Panels - holds responsibility for driving sales growth and developing strategies to maintain profitability through market fluctuations. This position involves strategic planning, thorough market analysis, effective team leadership, and alignment of Weyerhaeuser’s sales objectives with the broader goals of the Wood Products division.

The role requires extensive expertise in OSB, Plywood, MDF or the broader Wood Products sector, as well as a demonstrated ability to collaborate across functions—including customers, colleagues, sales teams, manufacturing, warehousing, finance, planning, scheduling and logistics—to consistently deliver outstanding customer service.

Key Responsibilities:

In collaboration with the VP of Commodities, develop and implement a sales strategy for OSB and Panels products to meet revenue and growth objectives.

  • Assess market trends, customer requirements, and the competitive landscape to inform sales approaches and identify opportunities for business development and improved customer satisfaction.

  • Identify and pursue new business prospects and markets, while establishing and maintaining relationships with customers, suppliers, and industry stakeholders.

  • Manage sales operations including lead generation, customer meetings, and contract negotiations.

  • Work closely with transportation, customer service, and logistics teams to ensure prompt delivery and meet customer needs.

  • Track market developments, competitor activity, and industry shifts to support ongoing sales strategy and planning.

  • Prepare sales forecasts, budgets, and reports for senior management.

  • Represent the company at industry events, trade shows, and conferences.

  • Provide leadership, direction, and support to sales and customer service teams, while promoting effective collaboration between sales and manufacturing functions.

  • Set specific goals and performance indicators for the team and monitor progress to achieve sales targets.



  • Education: 4-year degree required.
  • Experience: 10 years of comprehensive experience in the wood product and building industry
  • 5+ years’ experience in people management
  • Strong knowledge of wood products industry and market dynamics.
  • Facilitates the negotiation of both long-term and short-term business opportunities to effectively align the objectives of the organization with those of its customers
  • Proven track record of achieving sales targets and driving business growth.
  • Deep understanding of sales strategies, commodity trading, value selling and familiarity with CRM tools.
  • Thorough knowledge of the company's products and competitors' offerings in the panels and building materials sector.
  • Strong leadership, communication, interpersonal, and customer service abilities.
  • Effective strategic planning, organizational, and innovative thinking skills.
  • Ability to analyze data and make data-driven decisions
  • Demonstrated experience in supporting employee growth and development

     

Physical Job Location:  This role can be based in either Kalispell MT or Seattle Headquarters on a hybrid schedule which requires onsite work Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and allows for remote work Monday and Friday.

What We Offer: 

Compensation: This role is eligible for our annual merit-increase program, and we are targeting a salary range of $159,926-$240,031based on your level of skills, qualifications and experience. You will also be eligible for our Annual Incentive Program, which offers a cash bonus targeting 25%25 of base pay. Potential plan funding may range from zero to two times that target. This position is also eligible for participating in our Long Term Incentive Plan.

Benefits: When you join our team, you and your dependents will be offered coverage under our comprehensive employee benefits plan, which includes medical, dental, vision, short and long-term disability, and life insurance.  We offer a pre-tax Health Savings Account option which includes a company contribution.  Other benefit options are also available such as voluntary Long-Term Care and Employee Assistance Programs. Retirement: Employees are able to enroll in our company’s 401k plan, which includes a paid company match in addition to our contribution equal to 5%25 of your eligible pay.

Paid Time Off or Vacation: We provide eligible employees who are scheduled to work 25 hours or more per week with 3-weeks of paid vacation to use during your first year of employment. In addition, after being employed for six months, eligible employees begin to accrue vacation for future use. We also recognize eleven paid holidays per year, providing a total of 88 holiday hours and paid parental leave for all full-time employees.
