About this role

Reporting to the People and Culture Partner – Regional, the People and Culture Adviser - Regional, is responsible for supporting leaders and team members across the business. This role undertakes the day-to-day transactional HR activities, provides guidance, practical problem-solving, and responsive support in a fast-paced operational environment. You’ll work closely with leaders to ensure they are confident managing people matters in line with legislation, industrial instruments, and WesTrac policies.

 

This is a hands-on, fast-moving position where priorities can shift frequently. You’ll need to be comfortable working with ambiguity, making informed decisions with confidence, and adapting quickly as business needs change. The role also involves regular travel to regional areas across WA to support our remote operations and maintain strong on-the-ground relationships.

 

 

Location:  South Guildford

 

Roster - Mon to Friday 8.5 hours (including lunch)

 

 

What you’ll do:

 

  • Demonstrate strong analytical, problem-solving, and negotiation skills to effectively resolve workplace issues, leveraging expertise in interpreting legislation, awards, and industrial agreements. Foster collaborative relationships with line managers and team members to provide strategic advice on generalist People matters, and deliver consultative support during policy and process changes.
  • Provide comprehensive guidance across all stages of the team member lifecycle, including policy compliance, Award and Enterprise Agreement interpretation, onboarding, learning and development, talent management, remuneration, offboarding, and reporting. Ensure initiatives align with the People and Culture strategic plan, support change management implementation, and contribute to team member engagement programs to enhance organisational culture.
  • Act as the point of contact for employee relations matters by partnering with the ER team to assist with the grievances process, dispute resolution, and identify the cause and contributing factors to reported incidents.
  • Work with the leaders in the business to capture feedback of current processes in place to identify areas of continuous improvements.
  • Provide end-to-end People support by ensuring timely completion of performance reviews, facilitating probation and offboarding discussions, guiding leaders through organisational structure updates, and delivering accurate employment contracts and documentation promptly via the People Services Helpdesk.
  • Provide support to the People and Culture team in implementing project outcome.
  • Prepare reports as required.

 

 

Skills and Experience:

 

 

  • Degree, Diploma, or active studies in Human Resources or related field, or equivalent experience (AHRI membership desirable).
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a HR generalist role ideally supporting frontline or operational environments.
  • Experience working in a shared-services/business partnering environment is desirable, with resilience in managing high-volume enquiries across phone and email.
  • Strong problem-solving capability with the initiative to investigate, seek information, and deliver practical outcomes.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and capacity to continuously multi-task and prioritise workload..
  • Confident communicator with strong interpersonal skills, capable of coaching and influencing leaders at all levels.
  • Solid understanding of current employment legislation.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and the ability to quickly learn new systems (SuccessFactors HXM desirable).
  • Flexibility to travel regularly to regional WA as part of the role.
  • An understanding of current employment law legislation.
  • Flexible and adaptable approach – ability to work within a consistently changing and fluid environment, with strong interpersonal skills to communicate and manage a variety of stakeholders at all levels of the organisation.
  • Exceptional grammar, verbal and written communication skills, with high attention to detail and proficiency in Microsoft Office and the ability to learn new systems quickly. Previous experience in SuccessFactors HXM is desirable.
