About this role

What’s the role?

As Senior Manager, Strategy and Planning, you’ll be at the heart of shaping the strategic direction for Westpac Group’s Everyday Banking (‘EDB’) business. Based in Sydney, this full-time role is all about driving growth through strategy execution, keen understanding of competitive and business dynamics, and bold ideas. You’ll collaborate across teams and with external partners to strengthen our competitive edge and make a real impact – driving the strategy for the business, managing business planning, and overseeing major initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Drive the EDB strategy, working with the business to ensure the multi-year roadmap and objectives are delivered and outcomes as planned are achieved.
  • Leverage deep strategic thinking and data to solve challenging problems and emerging issues.
  • Work with leadership to drive EDB’s business planning cycles, oversee investment prioritisation and benefits realisation, and facilitate trade-off decisions.
  • Support the identification and execution of M&A and partnership opportunities.

What do I need?

We’re looking for someone with strong foundations and a strategic mindset—someone who can think big, distil complexity, and deliver with precision.

Here’s what will help you succeed:

  • Strong experience in strategy development and execution within a large complex organisation or consulting, with a skillset focused on developing high quality presentations, financial models, and Executive-level communications.
  • Strong judgement, decision-making skills, planning and written & verbal communication—you know how to simplify the complex and influence with clarity.
  • Proven ability to turn data into clear, actionable insights, and a proactive, structured and solutions-focused approach to complex challenges.
  • Strong commercial acumen—ideally with some experience in driving partnerships and structuring deals. Industry experience in banking or financial services is preferred, but not essential.
  • Proven ability to guide and influence decision making and leadership capability to drive outcomes with varied stakeholder groups.

Why join us?

We’re obsessed with becoming our customers' #1 banking partner for life and we’re looking for people who are passionate about helping us achieve that goal. In return, we’re committed to making Westpac the best place to work in the country. Here are just a few of the ways we’re already doing that:

  • Special offers on banking products and discounts from top brands, including generous employee-only mortgage rates!
  • Flexible work arrangements to help you achieve a greater work/life balance, and a variety of leave options including Culture, Lifestyle and Wellbeing leave.
  • Tailored learning and development opportunities to help your grow your career within the bank.
  • Lots of opportunities to ‘give back’ to the Community by getting involved in our many volunteering initiatives.
