About this role

Create your best future and join Westpac as Associate Director Transaction Relationship Manager.

What’s the role?

This is a full-time, permanent role based in Melbourne, working within Westpac’s Global Transaction Services (GTS) team, managing a senior portfolio of public sector clients.

Your focus will be on maintaining embedded relationships, identifying opportunities for growth across the diversified agencies within the portfolio, and delivering tailored solutions that enable your clients’ operational and financial goals. It’s a role that combines strategic thinking, client engagement, commitment for long term growth within the portfolio and a deep understanding of transactional banking.

What do I need?

  • You’ve built and nurtured senior client relationships before, and you know how to earn trust, influence decisions, persist and keep partnerships thriving.
  • You can read between the lines of a client’s strategy, spot opportunities others miss, and craft long-term plans that align with their goals and ours.
  • You’re skilled at creating compelling pitches, working broadly across the Group, mapping out solutions, and delivering presentation packs that resonate with senior stakeholders.
  • You stay sharp on economic trends, client sector priorities, and the evolving transactional banking landscape—and you use that knowledge to drive smarter conversations, especially with a digital overlay.
  • Proven transactional banking experience, with a confidence to run your own portfolio, with an appetite for pursuing opportunities that improve client outcomes to better manage their working capital and payments.

Why join us?

Westpac is the core bank for transaction banking in the public sector, enabling Departments and agencies within the public sector to deliver on their working capital and payments commitments. You will be in the driver’s seat, nurturing existing foundations and shaping the future for years to come.

We’re obsessed with partnering with our customers for life and we’re looking for people who are passionate about helping us achieve that goal. In return, we’re committed to making Westpac the best place to work in the country. Here are just a few of the ways we’re already doing that:

  • Ongoing special offers on banking products and discounts from top brands, including generous employee-only mortgage rates!
  • Continued flexible work arrangements to help you achieve a greater work/life balance, and a variety of leave options including Culture, Lifestyle and Wellbeing leave.
  • Tailored learning and development opportunities to help your grow your career within the bank.
  • Lots of opportunities to ‘give back’ to the Community by getting involved in our many volunteering initiatives
  • You’ll work with a diverse portfolio of institutional and corporate clients and play a meaningful role in strengthening their operational and financial efficiency. You’ll join a small team of colleagues who specialise in supporting Public Sector clients, working together from our Collins Street office.
