JOB SUMMARY

The Team Lead will assist the Production Supervisor in day-to-day operation of plant work cells, provide leadership and guidance to operators in the plant, work to meet plant goals in safety, quality, and productivity and assist to make work assignments for the team.  The team lead will fill in as needed to operate key equipment to help cover absences, provide training to operators on new assignments and be the backup for the Production Supervisor. 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Comply with Westlake Royal Safety Policies and Procedures and assist supervision to ensure that all shift personnel also comply
  • Works with supervisors and teams to manage and prioritize work assignments/production schedules are met
  • Use basic problem-solving skills to ensure stable operation of the equipment
  • Report problems or concerns with quality, processes, equipment and materials to Production Supervisor
  • Identify and support continuous improvement efforts with Production Supervisor
  • Participate as an active member of the production team and manufacture products
  • Follow documented policies and procedures as designated by the company's Quality System
  • Follow detailed manufacturing instructions, processes and procedures
  • A willingness to learn new technologies and equipment that may develop within the company
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area to facilitate manufacturing functions
  • Process treatment of materials and monitor equipment for proper operation
  • Identify the material that is recyclable to process
  • Adjust, program, calibrate, and perform preventative maintenance on equipment
  • Regular attendance, timeliness and scheduling flexibility 
  • Teams with Production Supervision to identify and support cross-training and other development opportunities for all plant personnel. 
  • Observes and Monitors performance of production line employees on an on-going basis and assists Production Supervisor in developing performance evaluations for production line employees
  • All other duties as requested or assigned by Production Supervisor

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

The employee should have the following:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent and training or certification in relevant skill or trade
  • 1 - 2 years' experience in a relevant field

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORK ENVIRONMENT

The employee should possess the ability to:

  • Be exposed to sounds or noise levels that maybe uncomfortable
  • Withstand exposure to temperature extremes inside or out
  • Prolong standing or in stationary position
  • Complete repetitive movements
  • Bend and/or twist
  • Lift/move/transport items up to 50 pounds
  • Ability to work around dust, chemicals, and other substances, and in various environmental conditions
  • Must tolerate an environment with inside ambient temperatures.
  • Must be able to wear required personal protective equipment (hearing, vision and hardhat protection, safety shoes etc.)
