What you'll do:

As a Mortgage Underwriter I you'll perform a limited review of Conventional (Conforming, Conforming-High Balance and Non-Conforming Jumbo), Non-Agency and Government (FHA, VA, and USDA) loans for specific issues such as appraisal, property flip, insurability, DTI, etc. Additionally, you'll be accountable for reviewing and clearing underwriting conditions on Conventional and Government loans in compliance with current guidelines and overlays.
  • Manage individual pipeline on a daily basis by completing sufficient underwriting reviews, appraisal reviews, flip reviews, and conditions.
  • Identify any document deficiencies, add applicable conditions, and request additional information and/or documentation from clients as needed. Contact clients to provide updates and clarification on outstanding conditions and deficiencies identified on loans per established process.
  • Assist others in the department in interpreting underwriting guidelines and updating underwriting status and conditions to customers. Perform independent research of guidelines and overlays while reviewing loans.

What you'll need:

  • 3+ years of related experience in Mortgage Industry, Residential Mortgage Loan underwriting or similar field.
  • High school diploma required.
  • Intermediate knowledge of residential mortgage industry in Correspondent or Retail Lending; including sales, operations and/or other residential mortgage products and services.
  • Intermediate knowledge of applicable regulatory and legal compliance obligations, rules and regulations, industry standards and practices.
  • Entry level to intermediate knowledge of FNMA, FHLMC, FHA, VA and USDA Guidelines.
  • Entry level to intermediate knowledge of MS Office products.
  • Entry level to intermediate knowledge of Encompass.
  • Intermediate speaking and writing communication skills.

Compensation: Hourly range for new hires is generally $31.00 for Nevada. Salary amount is determined by specific job location.
