Westerman, an employee-owned company, is a multiple site manufacturer of production and storage equipment within the oil, gas, and nuclear industries. Our equipment helps optimize well pad design, improve separation efficiency and lower overall equipment spend through high-performance surface separation and processing technology. Our equipment is setting new standards for performance and economics nationwide.

SUMMARY

The Weld Trainer is responsible for developing and implementing core operational weld training for new employees as well as re-training of current employees as required. This individual will deliver training through pre-set delivery methods and will also work collaboratively with the Quality department in order to achieve or exceed Westerman’s objectives in safety, customer service, quality and productivity. The Weld Trainer will also be responsible for tracking employee training, ensuring employees adhere to all compliance policies and providing recommendations to management for process improvement.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Regular and punctual attendance at work is an essential job function of each position and is necessary to your individual effectiveness and that of your work group. Regular and punctual attendance is required of all employees.

  • Develop, implement and maintain an on-boarding program for new welders
  • Develop, implement and maintain a cross-training program for existing welders
  • Instruct welders in subject areas of mathematics, drawing interpretation, use and maintenance of tools and equipment, codes and/or regulations related to the trade
  • Tests and evaluates achievement of welder in technical knowledge and trade skills to include welder performance qualifications.
  • Work strategically with Operations to plan, prioritize, and complete projects and other assigned tasks, while flexing the workforce as needed to support operational demands.
  • Work collaboratively with Plant Operations and Quality departments to identify training needs on an individual basis.
  • Provide safe working environment
  • Coordinates and communicates effectively with all departments.
  • Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty or responsibility satisfactorily. REQUIREMENTS                                                                                            

  • Welding: 4-5 years in manufacturing environment/ production environment.
  • Basic safety training.
  • Intermediate math skills and ability to read a tape measure required.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.
  • Understanding of weld procedure specifications, essential variables and best practices for welding
  • Strong communicational skills (written and verbal)
  • Ability to interact in a positive manner with management and other employees to achieve goals
  • Strong leadership ability
  • Dependable and reliable (Excellent attendance record)
  • Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills.
  • Basic computer skills.

  • Must be able to stand for extended periods of time, up to entire length of shift (10 – 12 hours).

  • Must be physically able to access all areas of the plant and grounds.
  • Some aspects of this position may require working in tight quarters (inside vessels).
  • Must be physically able to crawl in and out of vessels.
  • Some aspects of this position may require close vision, depth perception, the ability to see small detail, and the ability to adjust focus.
