Profile

The Manufacturing Technician is responsible for operating, maintaining, and troubleshooting production equipment in a manufacturing environment. This role involves ensuring that all production processes are carried out efficiently, safely, and to the highest quality standards. The Manufacturing Technician plays a key role in the assembly, testing, and inspection of products, as well as in process improvement initiatives.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform precise deburring, forming, and assembling of aircraft parts according to specifications and blueprints, ensuring high-quality finishes and adherence to safety standards
  • Learn and operate a router table to shape and trim aircraft components as needed, maintaining accuracy and consistency in all tasks
  • Accurately read and interpret work order instructions, and aircraft drawings and diagrams to ensure proper assembly and compliance with technical specifications
  • Keep accurate records of all work performed and maintain inventory of tools and equipment
  • Properly utilize production equipment to manufacture aircraft parts and maintain tools to perform installations and repairs
  • Safely operate equipment such as drill press, bandsaw, shears, bending brake, etc.
  • Maintain a clean work area and alert the leadership team of any safety concerns; take immediate action or report immediately any unsafe conditions
  • Ability to interpret and understand drawings, blueprints, and technical specifications
  • Apply sealants and protective coatings to aircraft parts as required, following detailed instructions and industry best practices to ensure durability and compliance with aerospace standards; this experience is considered an asset.
  • Continuously learn and apply new skills as required by the organization, including operating additional equipment or performing new tasks to support production needs.
  • Perform repairs and assembly tasks under the guidance and supervision of your team leader, ensuring all work meets quality standards and project timelines
  • Responsible for ensuring both accuracy and traceability of parts
  • Perform other work as assigned
  • The successful candidate would be willing to be trained and learn new skillsets as it pertains to this position, as outlined in the responsibilities above.

Qualifications

Please note this is a unionized position; below are the qualifications and competencies required for this role and corresponds with wages outlined in the Collective Bargaining Agreement.

  • 2+ years of manufacturing, aerospace, warehousing or construction experience is considered an asset
  • Completion of a high school diploma or equivalent is required
  • Any technical or trades qualifications / certificates, or training would be considered an asset
  • Exceptional attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work
  • Proficiency in using a variety of hand tools, power tools, and sheet metal fabrication machinery
  • Knowledge and experience in the aviation industry is considered an asset
  • Transport Canada Sheet Metal certificate is considered an asset
  • Ability to complete a criminal background check
  • Must have and maintain the ability to legally work in Canada
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills (English)
