Hoist/Shaft Tender

Location: Red Lake Madsen Mine 

Schedule: 14/14 Day Shift and Night Shift 


Be a part of the initial team to grow and operate a regionally significant new underground mine development that is rapidly becoming the future of the iconic Red Lake gold mining district in Ontario, Canada.



We are seeking a safety‑driven and highly attentive Hoist / Shaft Tender to support underground operations by transporting personnel, equipment, and materials through the mine shaft. This position is essential to maintaining safe, reliable vertical access and ensuring smooth daily operations in a safety‑critical environment.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Safely transport workers, equipment, and materials up and down the mine shaft.
  • Conduct routine inspections of hoist equipment and systems to ensure safe, compliant operation.
  • Monitor hoist activity and shaft conditions from a control room environment.
  • Troubleshoot operational issues in accordance with regulations, procedures, and site standards.
  • Support installation, commissioning, and maintenance of new hoist systems as required.
  • Train and mentor new Hoist workers, promoting a strong safety culture.
  • Maintain accurate logs, communication records, and shift documentation.

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Knowledge of occupational health and safety rules and provincial hoisting regulations.
  • Ability to pass medical and drug testing.
  • Emergency preparedness training.
  • Proficiency in the language of operation.
  • Willingness to work in a diverse environment.
  • Valid provincial hoisting certification.
  • 10+ years of experience working in or around mining shafts (shaft inspections, cage tending, skip tending, chairing, sling work, maintenance).

 

Additional Assets

  • Minimum two years of underground mining experience.
  • Mechanical or technical background.
  • Experience in a safety‑critical, procedure‑driven environment.
  • Ability to work shift schedules, including nights and weekends.
