About this role

Responsible for driving the development and optimization of Wesco’s global product assortment, merchandising strategy and search application and efficacy. Provide tactical leadership in the assortment planning process, collaborates with cross-functional leadership teams. Accountable for the quality, completeness and efficacy of the product assortment.

Responsibilities:

  • Full responsibility for the development and management of Wesco’s global product assortment strategy 
  • Direct management and oversight of the Product Assortment Management team
  • Leadership and strategic oversight of the full product lifecycle planning process, including the new product introduction, growth, maturity, and decline phases
  • Development and curation of strong business relationships with Wesco’s key vendors and suppliers
  • Identification and evaluation of emerging product categories and industry trends to expand the product assortment
  • Strategy to improve search relevancy, conversion rate, null search/lost demand, and maximize product add-ons and cross/substitutions 
  • Develop online merchandising strategies aligned to brand guidelines, leveraging data analytics and customer insights
  • Define product data requirements, priorities and standards needed for search experiences while balancing the TCO of managing varying degrees of data quality 
  • Develop product listing and category page strategy using performance data
  • Partner with web development to enhance functionality and presentation
  • Communication of business objectives, initiatives and key results with leadership in strategic partner teams like Category Management, Supplier Management, Master Data Management Team, Pricing Team, Inventory Team, etc.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelors Degree – Marketing, Sales, IT or related field required; Master's Degree preferred
  • 10 years in product assortment planning and management of wide assortment (1M+) targeting multiple customer segments with varying service levels
  • 10 years leading and motivating high-performing teams in a dynamic international business environment
  • Deep understanding of product assortment strategy, market trends, customer behaviors and merchandising strategies applied in a complex global distribution environment
  • Demonstrated ability to translate industry research and performance analytics into actionable programs that help drive product assortment and search experience optimization
  • Experience collaborating with leadership in teams like Supply Chain, Category Management, Marketing, Pricing, and eCommerce/Omnichannel
  • Ability to multi-task and reprioritize in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
  • Experience with sales, search and e-merchandising analytics, reporting, profitability reporting, and financial analysis
  • Strong problem solving, influencing, and decision-making skills
  • Demonstrated leadership qualities and excellent communication skills
  • Ability to travel 0% - 25%

This amount is what we reasonably believe we will pay for the position; however, offer amounts may vary based on factors such as geographic location, relevant education, experience, qualifications, skills, shift, or any collective bargaining agreements.

For eligible positions, compensation may include participation in a bonus or sales incentive plan, subject to the terms and conditions of the applicable plan documents. For certain sales roles, Wesco also offers a commission structure that provides additional compensation based on sales results, as defined by the applicable commission plan.
