Position Summary: The Transfer Center RN ensures proper placement of patients coming from outside locations such as outside hospital inpatient floors, ICUs, as well as Emergency Rooms, clinics, as well as from home. Works as a collaborative liaison between AUMC and transferring entities and physicians. This effort functions to reduce placement errors by ensuring the appropriateness of a patient's transfer and placement. Additionally, the Transfer Center RN will work closely with the house supervisor, bed management, and bed czar to ensure EMTALA compliance.

Position Requirements: Associates degree in nursing and 3 years or more of experience coordinating hospital transfers or ED/ICU experience as a Registered Nurse. Certification(s) required: Current American Heart Association or American Red Cross Basic Life Support (BLS). Licensure(s) required: Current Georgia Registered Nursing License (RN) or a qualifying multi-state compact license.

Preferred Requirements: One (1) year or more of experience in UM, UR or Case Management.
