Job Summary:

In developing the infrastructure for a robust program that supports the health and well-being of our clinical workforce (physicians, advanced practice providers, nurses, etc.), the Program Analyst is a critical team member supporting the Office of Clinician Well-Being. Reporting to the Director of Operations for the Office of Clinician Well-Being (OCW), the Analyst is responsible for extracting, tracking, and reporting on key performance indicators related to clinician turnover, measures of well-being, and electronic health record efficiency. The Analyst will have strong critical thinking skills and the ability to communicate directly with clinical and operational leaders in a way they can understand through effective data visualizations and presentations. In addition, the Analyst will be expected to have or develop understanding of the metrics to provide proactive and independent analyses. The Analyst works collaboratively with members of the OCW, ensuring familiarity and with strategic aims. The Analyst is expected to select the best tool to create complex interactive visualizations, reports, and dashboards to support business decisions, and design, develop, and distribute the analysis or visualization at OCW meetings, as well as system-level council meetings. The Analyst also coordinates with Subject Matter Experts (SME), the Data and Insights Team, and IT to ensure proper governance of the data and appropriate data structures for reporting are in place. This individual will serve as a SME regarding the tools and techniques used for visualization of information and deliver timely, accurate and actionable information to the organization.

Core Responsibilities and Essential Functions:

Analytics & Visualization Development 1. Extracts data in alignment with specified project aims 2. Extracts data using methodology that ensures accuracy 3. Extracts data from a variety of sources, including Epic, Epic Signal, the Well-being Index (WBI) platform, etc. 4. Uses statistical tools/programs provided by Wellstar Health System 5. Analyzes multi-source data trends using descriptive statistics as needed by leadership 6. Uses data to identify potentially at-risk clinicians, groups of clinicians, etc. 7. Performs other analyses as needed 8. Works directly with stakeholders to understand the business requirements for information needs 9. Selects the most appropriate visualization tool and delivery mechanism for requests includes selection of the best graphical or numerical representation of the information and appropriate level of interactivity and drill-down 10. Designs, develops, documents and distributes the selected visualization while working with stakeholder guidelines RESPONSIBILITIES Planning & Process 1. Acts as a liaison with stakeholders to communicate data structure or metric needs for appropriate data model build, including IT responsible for data warehousing 2. Develops a working knowledge of the lineage, meta-data, and overall meaning of data being analyzed 3. Identifies and sources (where possible), data quality issues impacting analyses and brings issues to Wellstar Enterprise Intelligence leadership and other appropriate individuals attention 4. Understands benchmarking and comparative analysis techniques and interpretation 5. Develops an excellent understanding of data transformed, managed, and reported specifically by the EI team (e.g., cost accounting, operational benchmarking, quality benchmarking, patient satisfaction, etc.) 6. Participates in the planning process of new OCW initiatives/projects to identify data needs 7. Ensures clarity of project aims 8. Develops and standardizes processes to conduct thorough needs assessments 9. Develops surveys and other accessible methods of data collection when needed 10. Works with behavioral health team members to make needed data accessible 11. Consults with leadership to develop databases with optimal ability to track data over time Interpretation & Reporting 1. Maintains an understanding of relational databases in concept and how to practically work data housed within 2. Maintains an understanding of a variety of technology tools used by Wellstar to present information (e.g., SQL, SSRS, Power BI, Advanced MS Excel, MS Sharepoint, SAS, etc.) 3. Schedules times to review findings of analyses with project leads 4. Provides statistical findings related to priority initiatives/aims to project leads 5. Provides on-time visual summaries and reports to OCW team members as needed 6. Prepares summaries for OCW newsletters and other communication streams Research & Collaboration 1. Collaborates with OCW team members in development of scholarly works Performs other duties as assigned Complies with all Wellstar Health System policies, standards of work, and code of conduct.

Required Minimum Education:

  • Bachelors Information Systems or Bachelors Computer Engineering or Bachelors Applied Mathematics or Bachelors Other

    Required Minimum Experience:

    Minimum 6 years working directly with customers from requirements gathering, functional design, development, and delivery of interactive data visualization. Required and Minimum 6 years working with complex data sets in a relational database environment with tools such as SQL Server, MS Access, SAS, MS Excel, and other 3rd party visualization tools such as Tableau and Power BI. Required and Experience and familiarity working with healthcare specific data, concepts, and terminology. Preferred and Significant experience in data analytics and visualization Required Clinical background is a plus. Preferred

    Required Minimum Skills:

    Ability to communicate with various members of the healthcare team. Ability to use Microsoft Office tools such as Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Strong background in designing and building publication-ready interactive and self-guided data visualizations using Tableau, Power BI and/or other BI tools along with diverse sets of structured and unstructured data. Strong aptitude toward understanding technology concepts and techniques and learning to use new data management and presentation toolsets. Experience with SQL or other common query language. Advanced skills working with relational database structures and concepts. Familiarity with common statistically appropriate means of data and process analysis. Personal desire for continuous knowledge and skill growth and development. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills. Strong attention to detail and accuracy and a sense of personal accountability. Self-motivated and well organized with strong time management skills. Ability to work independently or in a team environment and act as a mentor to less experienced team members. Strong interpersonal communication skills and the ability to work well with all levels of the organization.
