Job Summary:

As a Lead BI Analyst on the Population Health Data Analytics team, you will work in a dynamic Data & Insights organization supporting analytics and reporting. Collaborating closely with business stakeholders, you will help define, design, and deliver business-critical analytics and operational reporting that enhances population health management initiatives. Primary Responsibilities: Design, develop, and implement data models and reporting solutions that meet business reporting and analytical objectives for population health management. Serve as the BI expert by collaborating across the enterprise and developing relationships with executives, stakeholders, and analytics teams to understand the current and future data and analytics environment. Lead the adoption of new tools and processes as they are rolled out, ensuring alignment with population health strategies. Support the long-term analytics and reporting strategy by establishing best practices and templates for data preparation and visualization specific to population health metrics. Manage the process for code reviews, including data and visualization reviews, fostering team collaboration. Monitor and respond to enterprise reporting requests by applying healthcare expertise along with technical and analytic skills to develop and document data/business analytics requirements. Recommend ways to improve data reliability, efficiency, and quality in the context of population health analytics Support advanced analytics including predictive/prescriptive modeling to inform healthcare strategies. Coach and develop other BI analysts to enhance their skills in population health analytics.

Core Responsibilities and Essential Functions:

1. Collaborate with Customers and Data Integration Teams: a. Serve as the primary liaison between customers and Data Integration (DI) teams to understand data analysis needs, governance requirements, and implementation strategies. b. Communicate data structure and metric requirements to DI counterparts responsible for data warehouse and model development, ensuring alignment with business objectives. c. Develop interim data solutions to address immediate business needs while long-term data models are being built. 2. Design and Implement Data Models: a. Lead the design, development, and implementation of robust data models and reporting solutions that align with the organizations reporting and analytical objectives. b. Ensure that data models are scalable, efficient, and meet the evolving needs of the business. 3. Identify and Address Data Quality Issues: a. Proactively identify data quality issues that may impact analyses and reporting; escalate these issues to DI leadership and relevant stakeholders for resolution. b. Collaborate with teams to implement corrective actions and enhance data integrity. 4. Apply Statistical and Analytical Principles: a. Utilize appropriate statistical and mathematical methodologies in all analyses to ensure accuracy and reliability of insights. b. Conduct thorough benchmarking and comparative analyses to evaluate performance metrics effectively. 5. Understand Data Management Practices: a. Develop a comprehensive understanding of the data managed and reported by the DI department, including areas such as cost accounting, operational benchmarking, quality benchmarking, and patient satisfaction metrics. b. Stay informed about best practices in data transformation and reporting to enhance overall data management processes. 2. Organizational Technology Expert in Data and Analytics: Maintain Expertise in Technology Tools: Develop and sustain a comprehensive understanding of a diverse range of technology tools utilized by Wellstar for data presentation and analytics, including SQL, Advanced MS Excel, Power BI, QuickSight, Snowflake, AWS, Azure and others. Enhance Data Quality and Visualization: Proactively recommend strategies to improve data reliability, efficiency, quality, and visualization techniques to ensure impactful insights and reporting. Continuous Learning and Development: Commit to ongoing professional development by actively seeking opportunities to enhance knowledge and skills in relevant data analytics tools and technologies. Lead Compliance with Data Governance: Guide the Analytics Delivery team in adhering to established data governance processes, ensuring that all analytics practices align with organizational standards and regulatory requirements. Other Duties: Implement Process Improvement Techniques: Understand and apply process improvement methodologies utilized at Wellstar in your own work processes. Act as a leader within the Data Integration (DI) department to drive initiatives aimed at enhancing productivity and quality of output. Participate in Collaborative Teams: Engage in departmental and cross-functional teams, representing the DI department as needed to contribute insights and support organizational goals. Manage Multiple Assignments: Work independently while effectively managing multiple assignments and priorities to meet deadlines and deliver high-quality results. Communicate Across All Levels: Communicate effectively and appropriately with all levels of leadership and staff within the organization, ensuring that the DI department's objectives and contributions are clearly represented. Perform Additional Duties as Assigned: Undertake other responsibilities as assigned to support the overall mission and objectives of the organization. Required Minimum Education:

  • Bachelors Computer Science or Bachelors Statistics or Bachelors Business Informatics or Bachelors Other

    Required Minimum Experience:

    Minimum 8 years Experience working with and building complex datasets in a relational database environment using tools such as SQL Server, MS Visual Studio, MS Excel, Python, R, Alteryx, Azure, and other third-party data tools. Required Minimum 8 years Proven experience in creating highly effective data visualizations that meet business needs, demonstrating measurable impacts on business results using tools such as Tableau and Power BI. Required Minimum 5 years Hands-on experience with data warehouse architectures, data modeling concepts, and ETL design processes. Familiarity with ETL tools and frameworks is essential. Required Minimum 5 years Experience managing projects or leading initiatives related to data analytics or business intelligence, demonstrating the ability to drive projects from conception to completion. Required Commitment to ongoing professional development and staying current with emerging technologies and best practices in data analytics and business intelligence. Required Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively convey complex data insights to both technical and non-technical stakeholders. Required Minimum 5 years Experience in the healthcare sector, with familiarity with healthcare data systems such as EPIC, Clarity, or EPIC Caboodle. Preferred Strong understanding of statistical analysis techniques and methodologies, with the ability to apply these principles to derive insights from complex datasets. Preferred

    Demonstrated expertise in writing efficient T-SQL queries and reports, with a strong ability to troubleshoot and optimize the performance of existing reports. Utilize performance analysis tools such as Execution Plans, SQL Server Profiler, and Database Engine Tuning Advisor to identify performance bottlenecks and implement effective tuning strategies. Work collaboratively with cross-functional teams to address performance issues and enhance reporting capabilities, ensuring that data-driven insights are delivered efficiently and effectively. Stay updated on best practices for SQL performance tuning, including understanding execution plans and key performance metrics. High Ability to identify complex problems, involve key parties, gather pertinent data, and consider various options in the decision-making process. Skilled at applying problem solving skills in a logical, systematic way to resolve issues High Advanced skills working with relational database structures and concepts. High Advanced skills working with data visualization tools including Tableau and Power BI, a certification would be preferred. High Familiarity with common statistically appropriate means of data and process analysis. Medium Experience in data mining, data quality and data security. High Ability to leverage critical thinking in all aspects of work product design and delivery. High Advanced skills working with relational database structures and concepts.
