As a collaborator, educator, care coordinator, advocate, and change agent, rehabilitation nurses work as an integral part of the Interdisciplinary Team that includes physiatrists, physical therapists, occupational therapists, speech therapists, and psychologists to develop comprehensive care plans based on patient diagnosis, goals, and maximum potential.

Rehab nurses are poised to provide restorative care through expert knowledge and understanding of the holistic, individualized, and complex needs of each patient—supported by a culture of excellence recognized by Magnet® and CARF.

General Summary

Provides professional nursing care at the beginner practitioner level in accordance with the principles of patient and family-centered care based on the nursing process and according to the clinical standards of the hospital. Acts as a primary nurse for patients on the unit. Coordinates care planning with other disciplines. May require specialized skills depending on unit assignment.
