About this role

Pendleton Sanitary Service Inc. is searching for a safety-minded Union Residential Route Driver to join us in Pendleton, OR.

Starting rate of pay is $25.56/HR with an increase to $26.31/HR at 6-months of employment and increase to $27.06/HR at 1-year of employment.

Schedule is Monday – Friday

Shift is 6:00 AM – 12:00 PM, with some overtime as needed.

Safety Sensitive: Yes

Qualified candidates must have a  Valid Class-B CDL and medical card & Acceptable Motor Vehicle Report & Eligible Criminal Background Report.


DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Ability to perform a physically demanding job, cardiovascular workout, loading and unloading, at times with no helpers, 500+ customers carts per day throughout the City of Pendleton and surrounding area.
  • Ability to comprehend electronic route tablet and service each customer identified or assigned by the dispatcher.
  • Ability to safety operate a Peterbilt residential automated arm collection truck.
  • Perform routine inspection and maintenance on vehicles such as checking fluids, safety equipment, and tires.
  • Operate hydraulic hand controls to lift/load recycle containers at designated facilities.
  • Courteous interaction with our customers and perform other miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.

WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL EFFORT:

  • Extensive physical activity. Requires strenuous physical work; heavy lifting required objects over 50 pounds. Requires the ability to push or pull objects over 100 pounds.
  • Work environment involves some exposure to physical risks such as moving mechanical parts. Which require following basic safety precautions.
  • The employee is exposed to outside weather, including frequent wet and/or humid conditions, as well as exposure to fumes and vibration. Noise level is usually moderate.

MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS:

  • Valid Class A or Class B CDL with air brakes endorsement REQUIRED.
  • Ability to read, write, comprehend and communicate in English. High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • MINIMUM 2-YEAR of route driving experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.
  • Basic knowledge of truck components to complete pre- and post-trip inspections.
