We are currently looking for an Operator for our Spirit River TRD. This role is working shift work, having 7 days on, 7 days off and working 12 hours each day. This role will work both day and night shifts, those hours being 7am-7pm and 7pm-7am respectively. The Spirit River TRD is roughly 70.9km north of Grande Prairie and 10km southwest of Rycroft. This role does not provide transportation or camp.

The Operator position is responsible for the day-to-day safe and customer service-oriented operations of waste treatment, oil treatment and water injection. The Operator will be in constant contact with customers and therefore, must demonstrate excellent communications skills and a high level of customer service. As this is a safety-sensitive role and due to the nature of working conditions, the Operator is required to be mentally and physically fit to successfully perform the tasks and responsibilities of this role.

As an Operator, the minimum responsibilities are:

  • Plant safety (i.e. ensuring that each operation is following Standard Operating Procedures and safety work procedures, SWP permitting, Hazard Assessments and Intelex items are entered in a timely manner)
  • Responsible for truck unloading, oil emulsion, water & vac trucks (paper trail)
  • Responsible for oil treating with the treater, cooler or tank treating
  • Responsible for proper equipment operation and preventative maintenance
  • Participating in waste processing, waste and mud tank operation, shaker & centrifuge operations and solids treating
  • Managing ongoing water injection, filter changing and pump maintenance
  • Conducting boiler operations, testing and steam system operations
  • Conducting daily, weekly and monthly plant checks
  • Performing general cleaning duties throughout the day


WHAT WE NEED FROM YOU:

  • A High School Diploma, General Education Diploma or equivalent
  • A valid and acceptable Driver’s license and successful completion of pre-employment testing (drug & alcohol)
  • Special training in boiler, treater, shaker/centrifuge, pumps (all) and loader will be considered
  • Yellow iron training (loader, rock truck, skid steer, tractor)
  • Valid and current safety tickets
  • A strong attention to detail, communication skills and a profound ability to work long hours in a mentally and physically demanding work environment
  • A proven ability to work well under a frequent amount of supervision
  • Must demonstrate excellent customer service skills 
  • Must be able to pass all pre-employment requirements
