Job Description: As a Senior Data Engineer on WBD’s Converged Advertising team in Hyderabad, you will design and build scalable, cloud-native solutions that power our advertising technology stack. You’ll work on systems that unify linear and digital ad workflows, enabling campaign planning, identity resolution, and monetization at global scale. This role is hands-on, focused on data engineering, data analysis, collaborating closely with product managers, architects, and other engineers to deliver high-performance, API-driven platforms.
Your New Role:
The Sr Data Engineer reports to the Sr Manager, Engineering and is accountable for designing and delivering scalable, cloud-native solutions that power our advertising technology stack.
Your Role Accountabilities:
Data Engineering
Design and implement ETL pipelines and real-time data processing for ad performance, forecasting, and yield optimization.
Work with big data frameworks (Spark, Kafka) to handle large-scale data sets
Proficiency in: One language: Python, SQL, Java, Scala
Big Data Technologies: Apache Spark, Kafka, Flink, Database, Data warehouse, Data Lake
Data Modeling
Cloud platform: AWS, Azure, GCP, DevOps tool
Software Development & Integration
Build and maintain services for ad-serving, campaign management, and identity systems.
Develop APIs and integrations with third-party AdTech partners and data providers.
Platform Modernization
Contribute to migration of legacy systems to modular, cloud-native architectures.
Implement observability, security, and compliance best practices, system design
Collaboration & Technical Guidance
Partner with product and operations teams to align technical solutions with business goals.
Share best practices and mentor junior engineers when needed.
Qualifications & Experience
Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
Engineering Expertise: 5+ years in software engineering, with exposure to AdTech or large-scale distributed systems.
Hands-On technical experience: Hands-on expertise with Java, Scala, or Python, JavaScript, SQL and NoSQL databases, big data tools (Spark, Kafka) and streaming architectures. Experience with cloud platforms (AWS/GCP/Azure).
AdTech Domain Knowledge: Familiarity with advertising workflows including forecasting, yield optimization, identity, and campaign execution.
Collaboration & Mentorship: Demonstrated ability to partner with data scientists, product, and platform engineering, while mentoring junior engineers.
