Applications are invited from suitably qualified & experienced candidates to fill the Regional Sales Manager position in the VW Department - NSO (Sandton) 

Brief Role Description

To partner with the Volkswagen Dealer Network to strategically steer the New Vehicle, MasterCars and Accessories sales with appropriate customer service delivery in order to achieve the company retail objectives.

Possible Tasks within this Role

  • Develop and maintain a positive working relationship with Franchise Directors, Dealer Principals and portfolio managers through effective communication and query resolution to foster sound long-term working relationships.
  • Analyze the Dealer retail area of responsibility / retail potential to define the sales objective per dealer per region.
  • Analyze regional and dealer market preferences to recommend to the dealer appropriate allocation of models and equipment levels that meet local market conditions.
  • Develop key initiatives and provide guidance on dealer marketing activities, stock profile, sales mix, accessories retail, VAPs and HR capacity planning to ensure effective Dealer Sales Performance.
  • Set sales and service targets with dealers and review quarterly business plans to ensure objectives and execution priorities are fully met.
  • Analyze stock, sales, and aged inventory to identify gaps and propose retail and wholesale action plans that improve performance and reduce ageing units.
  • Assess sales process adherence through customer service insights and benchmark dealer performance using Sewell’s reports to identify improvement opportunities across all business areas.
  • Oversee recruitment of key sales roles and approve final placements, while monitoring dealer KPI performance and initiating review processes for underperforming dealers.
  • Provide strategic support to Dealers on performance review to improve performance to enhance Dealer sustainability.
  • Conduct audits to ensure compliance with DTC (Delivery to Customer) requirements to validate sales to target achievement and commensurate incentives.
  • Study the Dealer Agreement and corresponding schedules to highlight and correct non-compliance.
  • Analyze the Dealer operating standards and procedures to highlight Dealer management noncompliance that needs to be addressed.
  • Analyse the performance reports and validate that the correct variable margin and tactical incentives are paid to each Dealer within their portfolio timeously.
  • Align the regional objectives to the national objectives and steer the Dealer business to the attainment of key KPIs.
  •  Advise dealer management on training needs as identified in the Training Academy assessment reports and interviews and monitor progress and training attendance.

Qualification requirements

A recognised Bachelor’s Degree or National Diploma in Marketing/ Commerce/Business Management

Advantage : A post -graduate qualification  

Experience needed

Minimum of 5 years motor industry experience, ideally within some of the following fields:

  • Sales Forecasting/ Volume Planning.
  • Business/ Financial Management.
  • Brand Management & Research 
  • 3-5 years at supervisory level within the sales environment
  • Oversee recruitment of key sales roles and approve final placements, while monitoring dealer KPI performance and initiating review processes for underperforming dealers.
  • Confident in negotiating with Dealer management and skilled at influencing and persuading others to drive strong sales results.
  • Strong analytical and computing skills supported by a solid understanding of financial principles and business management.
  • Able to work effectively in cross‑functional environments while providing strategic sales and marketing guidance to Dealers to support achievement of sales objectives.
  • Demonstrates a strong passion for the automotive industry, with a commitment to continuous learning, improvement, and sharing of best practices.
  • Possesses strong VW product and retail selling knowledge, supported by an innovative, resourceful, resilient, and self‑disciplined approach.
  • Ability to work independently
