Reporting to the Equipment & Facilities Manager, the Trade Supervisor Mechanic plays a key leadership role in overseeing mechanical maintenance and repair operations within a construction setting. This position is responsible for coordinating and supervising mechanical activities, ensuring optimal performance and safety of machinery and equipment. The role requires a combination of technical expertise and management skills to lead a team, maintain equipment efficiency, and support operational goals. 

 

How You’ll Add Value 

  • Actively contribute to the safety culture, promoting a safe and productive environment
  • Effectively supervise assigned work projects and activities, managing manpower, materials, and supplies to meet production standards, quotas, and costs through proper organization and scheduling
  • Organize, schedule, assign, and coordinate the work of an assigned crew in conjunction with other resources
  • Ensure established work standards for quality and quantity are met, along with completion schedules for designated work and projects
  • Conduct field and job site inspections to ensure work progress, materials, and other requirements are met
  • Communicate effectively with direct employees regarding work and job assignments
  • Review management reports, implement corrective actions, and ensure fiscal control is maintained
  • Participate in initial planning, programming, and estimating of resources and costs required to complete scheduled work and projects within the annual budget
  • Reorganize, reschedule, and reassign job functions and resources based on work progress and priorities
  • Maintain corresponding resource materials, supplies, and replacements for assigned crew

What You Bring 

  • High school Diploma or GED equivalent
  • 3+ years journeyman work experience or equivalent
  • Valid BC Class 5 licence or higher with a Driver’s Abstract showing no more than 6 demerits and no major infractions
  • Valid Interprovincial Red Seal Heavy Duty Equipment Technician Certificate of Qualification or an approved equivalent
